Here's a quick personality test you can take.
My results tell me that I'm: intuitive, feeling, and introverted, judging. A good career choice for me would be (hold on to your hats) the clergy. LOL Have fun! 99 comments from 16 users

It's not actually a Personality test. It's a Temperament analysis which is quite different. The "J" part has NOTHING to do with being judgemental. There's a very complex explanation for it that would take me a while to explain, but if you Google "Myers Briggs" you can get tons and tons of information about the terms Basically speaking, your temperatment *trends* in certain ways of solving problems. You are basically introverted but not excruciatingly so like I am (deafness has a profound effect) You are intuitive which is the MB way of saying you see things in a kind of "big picture" way. Okay. This could take HOURS to get into, so I'm not going to go into the "F" (feeling) and "J" (judging) parts. But I wlll say that of ALL the 16 MB temperaments, INFJ is the most rare (about 1% of the population). There are lots of positives and a few negatives about being an INFJ. posted by

Audrey, it also means that your intuition is almost always correct and that you take quite a bit of time to arrive at your judgements. Rarely are snap judgements something you employ unless in an emergency. Your judgments are based on a combination of experience, study and a natural tendency to explore deeply things you don't understand but want a kind of mastery of, just so you can speak about them with credibility. The down side is (full disclosure alert) that an iNFJ has to be careful about wanting revenge. Of course, revenge isn't an ugly word. It's sometimes a powerful force toward seeking justice on many, many different levels including simply winning a verbal argument. It's my knowing that about myself that keeps me from engaging in so many of the blogs. I have to stop, breath into a bag, and ask myself if I want to engage a particular subject that is gnawing at my emotions. posted by

I had a counselor tell me once that I was extremely intuitive but that I ought to counter it with a little more kindness. I've always known I was this way. I'm not sure if this figures into this blog or not but the paranormal brought it to mind. Last summer the grandkids went to visit her family in TX and took a trip to the cemetary to visit the graves of her great grandmother and great grandmother. The baby was just about 14 month old or so and when they turned him loose he went straight to the headstone of what would be his great great grandmother and put his hand on it and started babbling. Then he went to the adjoining gggrandfathers head stone and said "papa." Seems that's what the kids called him. Then he plucked some grass and strowed it on the footstones. They were all freaked out by his actions. And they said he was not shown the graves nor did he go to any others. Wonder what his type would say on the test. Intuitive?

LOL Audrey! Actually I don't like those kinds of movies. I do like The Witches of Eastwick and the new TV program Eastwick. Psycho sent me into overdrive!! On the other side, my empathy is so sensitive I can't even watch commercials with animals who are caged or hurt without going into tears and sometimes deep depression. Sometimes I can actually "feel" another persons/animals physical/emotional pain. Like when you and I were "going at it" on the blogs I KNEW something was wrong 'cause you just don't usually talk that way (to me anyway!), and I could "feel" how you later told me you were feeling at that point in time. Yes, I know, I'm weird!!!!! BUT.....................I always see the glass half full!!!

Oi, mid-test blogging here... but does anyone else find these questions are not specific enough? "Things" and "events" really aren't precise enough for me. For example, I like some "things" to be planned and other "things" can just happen, so what the heck do I select? I guess this is because I have a formal vs informal mindset. Formal things like conferences and business meetings for specific agendas should be planned. Informal things like going out with friends should just unfold organically. posted by

Okay, so I just went with informal situations on those answers, because I figure that was more what they were looking for. Work is work and playtime is more yourself. So here's what I got: Your personality type: Independent, original, analytical and determined. Have an exceptional ability to turn theories into solid plans of action. Highly value knowledge, competence and structure. Driven to derive meaning from their visions. Long-range thinkers. Have very high standards for their performance and the performance of others. Natural leaders, but will follow if they trust existing leaders. Careers that could fit you include: Scientists, engineers, professors, teachers, medical doctors, dentists, corporate strategists, organization founders, business administrators, managers, military, lawyers, judges, computer programmers, system analysts, computer specialists, psychologists, photographers, research department managers, researchers, university instructors, chess players. Shwaine, the best way to approach the analysis is to 1. Respond the way you ARE as opposed to how you'd like to be. 2. Understand the words in the questions using your own sense of what they mean. If you take the word literally, answer it literally. If figuratively, answer it figuratively. There several variations on the exam and sometimes it a good idea to find one that makes sense to you. But some of the questions are HARD to answer because they force you to split hairs, to decide what is your own most likely tendency. Remember, this isn't about personality. It's really about how you resolve problems. posted by

Just for fun I ran through it a second time, answering the opposite way on those questions that I found were imprecise. The results were slightly different:
Your personality type: Logical, original, creative thinkers. Can become very excited about theories and ideas. Exceptionally capable and driven to turn theories into clear understandings. Highly value knowledge, competence and logic. Quiet and reserved, hard to get to know well. Individualistic, having no interest in leading or following others. Highly analytical, they can discover connections between two seemingly unrelated things and work best when allowed to use their imagination and critical thinking. Careers that could fit you include: Physicists, chemists, biologists, photographers, strategic planners, mathematicians, university professors, computer programmers, computer animators, technical writers, engineers, lawyers, forensic researchers, writers, artists, psychologists, social scientists, systems analysts, researchers, surveyors.

And Ray, the problem was the way I am said "ERROR: this does not compute" on that handful of questions. There just is no preference. Both sides are present and equally loud. I like structure in some tasks, but I like other tasks to unfold organically. It's mostly on a work/non-work divide, but not entirely. Like my pet routine is a structured task. Same with my meal schedule (needed since I am prone to low blood sugar). These are practical things that need to be structured in order to preserve sanity and health. But I don't insist on a schedule when going out with friends. I don't cook by recipes once I've mastered the basic steps. And at work, I don't run my servers by the book but instead view them as evolving beings that need to be handled individually by their quirks and setups. I've got a bit of a dualistic mindset I suppose. Maybe that's another Gemini trait. posted by

Witters, you sound just like my friend. Case in point, your ABCDE example. I was talking to him one day and asking him how he is able to get so much done. His explanation is that when he's faced with a job, he JUST STARTS DOING IT even if he has to redo some things. Okay, the thing you just described about your co-workers who want an ABCDE approach is that they are Temperments who like to have a SET PLAN firmly in mind BEFORE they start. You require NO SUCH PLAN. You DIVE IN and get half the work done before they get started. Right? posted by

Shwaine is borderline in two areas 1. Sensing - Intuition In a case like that, where you are on the borderline, sometime you have to read the options you trend that are on the opposite side of the graph. I have this examine on my IPHONE and it shows what your top 3 or 4 most likely temperaments are (actually much better than this online quiz Audrey found). This isnt Astrology. There's some hard science behind the Myers Briggs so it's not really correct to compare this stuff with your astrological sign. This is Jungian psychology. Advertisement |
