Spend the $1.5 million gang funds on birth control!
Why waste money on these types of programs? These people would be better of not continuing their cycle of crime and broken families! Spend the $1.5 million on a free birth control program. We have a better chance of eliminating the gang problem this way!

Sadly, you are probably correct (that this will be labeled racist). Why waste tax dollars on an unsolvable issue? This is just like the issues in the middle east - there is no answer, yet we waste billions...bigger government is never the answer.

No~ as some Northwest states and most of the South would be placed on birth control..oh you mean Bakersfield? lol..again their are many ethnic gangs(including 08ters) and being born white does not necessarily make one a skin head..unfortunalty..no make that fortunately problems such as these have multi layered answers, to respond to the many reasons they exist. I say give this a chance before we cry "It won't work".

How about a tax rebate for those parents whose children do well in school and are not involved in gangs? And a tax on all parents whose children graffiti walls and do poorly in school - that way they can pay for these programs? posted by

This will not solve the gang problem, but it might redirect some youths away from gangs, just as the city's PAL program does.Gangs make too much money and give too many people a sense of power to end. Enforcement will continue to be a necessary tool. posted by

Sherman2, if you lock up all the gang bangers and throw away the key, who is going to fill the rosters of certain college and professional sports teams? We will be regulated to watching golf, (a good thing), and gymnastics, (a not so good thing).
