What's your most memorable Halloween costume?

Ran across this classified ad for a pirate's costume and it got me thinking about memorable Halloween costumes.

Whether it was as a kid or adult, what's been your most memorable costume?

When I was little, I remember loving my Tweetie Bird Costume.

As I reached the 'club-party' days (in the 80's when Bako had a ton o' fun bars & costume parties), we used to go ALL out with amazing costumes. Year after year, I would go as something 'sexy'...BUT my favorite memory of those years, was one halloween - my fiance and i decided to go as a Fly & Bag o' Trash!  Everyone was so surprised to see our (VERY un-sexy) costumes. And i had made them myself, very funny....my fiance was the Fly (even sporting black leggings) wings, antennae, etc ~ and i was a hefty bag stuffed with 'trash' and had 'trash' pieces stuck on the outside of the bag too, tied at the neck...good times! LOL

Another year, my (ex) husband and I were invited to a Hollywood Theme Costume Party, and we went as the Revenge of the Nerds, google glasses, pocket protectors, the whole 9 yards, that was a fun party too. Another couple went as Stewart and his Mom from MadTV "look what I can doooooooo"  hilarious!

Love it, goldilox!

Have any pictures to share from those parties?

I made a floor length costume of white flowing material and glued flowers, leaves and stars all over it.  Then I made a crown of ivy leaves and flowers.

I went as Mother Nature.  My friends told me I was typecasting myself.   LOL

PS  I still have that silly thing somewhere.

I wore a pink with brown leaves print gown from the 30's,layered a mauve vintage kimono over it, macramed a belt adorned it with skeleton keys, assorted "charms" and other oddities, wove a wreath of  ivy/marigold flowers for my head and carried a wood staff with ribbons, bells and a raccoon skull~ went as a wizardess. The sad/fun part is, it all came from my closet and my shelves. I have too much stuff ! ;-)

~ The homemade ones are the best, aren't they sage?

betty ~ i am sure i have photos, taken from my kodak 110 camera in 1984 ~ LOL (In a box somewhere in the attic !)

Oh, and one year i went as a centerfold. i had found this tee shirt of nekked-ness (not the cartoon ones of today) actually 'nekked' looking front and back, in skin tone. i wore that and a pair of pantyhose, and red leather 4" pumps. that seemed like a fun idea at the time, but --- looking back, it was probably a bit much.

Growing up, I had long hair perfect for Pippy Longstocking pigtails. So, with a wired clothing hanger, i braided braids outside the wire and door to door, those handing out candy where always surprised to find out it was, yes, my REAL hair. I was Pippy for many years, even dressing up like her to work a few years back. Overalls, two different socks, and some penciled in freckles-I was good to go!

One year I went to a thrift store and got a 50's style skinny skirt and blouse to match.  Went to Michael's and bought a bunch of little fake birds, attached them all over my clothes and in my wildly teased up french twist hair, dripped fake blood all over myself.  I was Tippi Hedren in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds".  Loved it!

~  I am gonna hit the $1 store tomorrow on my break, its fun to go and grab cheap 'accessories' there and you can be creative from those items. I save most everything, and we pull-out the costume box each season, and go thru the goodies! I stil have my sons 1st real-costume, & he is already 20 !

Last year my g/f and I dressed as Elvira and Sinister Seymour, her predecessor. I did the whole sunken cheeks makeup and all. Everyone knew who she was supposed to be, but it was cool to get to explain who I was. Seymour was the host of Friday Night Fright Night on Channel 90 for three years. Most people had no clue. I love doing things out of the ordinary.
