Holiday lights map
It's almost Thanksgiving, so that means ... it's time to throw up holiday lights!
OK, so some people will be up on the roof and out in the yard this weekend firing up their lights, while others will wait a week or two or three. Some will boycott the whole thing; that's cool too. But we do know driving around to see dazzling lights and displays is a big thing around here -- and a fund-raiser for at least a few -- so we want to collect addresses of interesting lights around town that we can plot on an interactive map. You can submit addresses and a short description at our Holiday Lights blog or by emailing us. Once we get a few addresses in there, we'll launch the map and let you know where you can find it. Thanks for your help and ideas. 10 comments from 10 users

The people that live in the apartment on 24th Street near Oak always have a great display of Christmas lights. I think it's great that they put up such a display on a busy street. Everyone gets to enjoy the lights as they drive home from work.

Actually, you don't have to be a Christian to put up lights around the HOLIDAYS. Several faiths mark important events around the winter solstice, and even us atheists don't mind a dash of color during the long, dark winter. Get over yourself Anonymous!

http://www.bakersfield.com/... We plotted a few displays seen around Oleander. Where else have you seen cool lights? Help us expand the map by adding addresses to the Holiday Lights blog or e-mailing Matylda at mczarnecka@bakersfield.com. posted by

We moved away from Bakersfield back in 1995, but we always used to love to go look at the lights at Haggin Oaks. They had a choo choo that the kids could ride on! It was so cool. We also really enjoyed the candlelight Christmas Eve service at First Methodist church on Stockton. Nice town with lots of nice memories. posted by

My two daughters, my 3 year old grandson and I were driving around last week looking at Christmas lights. After twenty minutes of it my grandson yawned and said "WHERE are we going"?
