Photos from bakersfield.com meetup
Today's meetup of bakersfield.com bloggers and contributors was a lot of fun. We had about a dozen bloggers show up for coffee, cookies, conversation, and some bakersfield.com swag. And it was great to see TomW, who was visiting from the Bay area. It was great to meet some of the people behind the handles. We had nametags for those we knew would show up, as well as a few nametags reading "Anonymous" for those who wished to keep their IDs secret (only one person took that nametag, but we quickly figured out who it was). And, surprise, surprise, while most of the conversations were lighthearted on any number of subjects, a few bloggers broke into on-the-spot political debates. You knew that was going to happen. I think it's a good bet we'll have another meetup sometime soon. Stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the slideshow . 42 comments from 15 users

But Woof..I'll bet it would get a fantastic price on Ebay. Great pix (well most of them..where's PhotoShop when you need it?) and a great time. Thanks to all who came and to those who didn't, you really missed out. Hopefully you'll join us next time. Audrey..where were you? I kept wondering "where's my drinking buddy?" (Even is it was just tea..heh) posted by

Has anyone figured out who the imposter was? If you are going to get the cops involved. I would like to suggest that you ring up Sparks.. I am not totally convinced that Youngblood has enough time on the job. To handle a case of this magnitude.. posted by

Nancy et al. Gosh it looks like the Bloggers get together was a lot of fun. Sorry I missed it. I've had a small problem that kept me away. Next time for sure. Why did I think TKozy was a she instead of a he? I wondered about it a few times but couldn't get past the name. Also, Random appears a bit older than I thought and TomW younger. At least I imagined Woofwoof correctly. Scary - marriage to Steve must agree with you. You look so happy. posted by

Audrey says: Why did I think TKozy was a she instead of a he? TK says: Nancy jump in if I am wrong. But the investigation into this case has not proceeded far enough, to be able to provide reliable information as to who the imposter was. Stay tuned. posted by

Audrey, I thought the same thing....I didn't even get a chance to talk to him...because I thought it was a her.....something about the name on the profile from awhile back, I can't remember, but now it's Buster, but it was a chick's name.... And, soo-o, you pictured me as an ole hippie? Was hopin to meet you too.... posted by

Woof I have seen too much not to know that the impression of a woman may be more valuable than the conclusion of an analytical reasoner. Sherlock Holmes. TK says: Anne Mouse? Yea, that’s the imposter. Now I recognize him…… His anonymity is spoiled.
You know my method. It is founded upon the observation of trifles. Sherlock Holmes. posted by

Hey, who was the guy behind Nancy's hand in the first picture? He's in a ton of other pictures, too. Was he "Anonymous"? He looks like this punkish teacher guy I had as my teacher for two years! That's scary. I'm sorry I didn't make it to this one. It looks like you guys had tons of fun. My parents were on their way home from Vegas, so I had to watch my little brother. I'll have to try to make it to another one as soon as I learn how to drive. That could take a while. But I must warn you in advance that if any of you ever meet me in person within the next year, you'll more than likely see me with braces on my teeth. Stupid ice skating rink ruined my perfectly straight teeth the night before my 18th birthday! Er... :( Oh, and apparently I look a lot younger than I actually am, which is totally lame. I imagined people the same way Audrey did. Talk about being totally wrong.

Ha ha...that's funny, Nancy! It's weird that I said that even though I had no idea who he really was. Does he post anonymously, Nancy? I've never seen him on the blogs. I guess he's not the punkish teacher guy I knew. So how often is the meet-up thing going to occur? Hmm...I'm using Internet Explorer to post comments. For some reason, Firefox won't let me post comments on the blogs. I refreshed it and every time it finishes, it just shows the white box and nothing else. It won't let me type into it. I cleared all my cookies to see if that would work, but it didn't. I haven't tried restarting my computer yet, though. That's the last thing I need to try. Does anyone have any ideas as to why my Firefox browser won't let me post comments? posted by

Both are in red Chico. The blonde is Woof and the brunette is my grandsons wife. She posts occasionally under anonymous because of her job. Year ago last July she married my grandson (in the checkered shirt talking to Tk) and is the greatest thing to happen to him since sliced bread. He posts occasionally under googlplex. No clue what I was talking about but must have been on a rant. Lordy I hate pictures of me especially with my mouth hanging open. By the way..they are going to add to our family in May. They're just trying to make an old lady out of me but it won't work. :-) posted by

Uhhh yeah. I know they are both in red...... my rods and cones are intact...... haha .....She is very pretty. And I meant that in a non DOM or partisan {Democrat like Clinton or Dodd-Kennedy haha} sense and no disrespect in any way. In fact she looks like one of my grandkids. I teach the grandkids espanol (I won't go into first language as even spanish has caused my stepson heartburn for some reason) and they love it. See, it gets back to "The Grass is Greener" theory. Everyone wants to be what they ain't. Whites want tans, blacks used to do jeri curls or iron their hair, mexicans want lighter skin. Ridiculous! Ronald Reagan said whats outside a horse is good for inside a man (close) and I say whats inside a man is all that is really important. You will find that in conflict (combat) of any kind. Point is, too much is made of "race". Anglos are continually asking for "forgiveness" (ridiculous) and others take advantage of their good nature (despicable) Hi dusty. Go ahead and attack me

Gee. I guess thats a comeuppance from a {edit} who doesn't realize PDA's have limited capabilities as do old PC's. See how that happens folks? I said nothing which would elicit such a response from our lieberal "all accepting" freind, Randomfactor Actually random factor, I know him from LIons Club and years of work I did up in Porterveille and even down into Terra Bella for the blind. Chico, if *YOU* inferred that I said you couldn't read, then perhaps your inferring bone is too hair-trigger. And your spelling-checker too rusty if you think that's how the word "liberal" is spelled. . If you didn't mean to imply snide intonation to your comment "the only one who really counts," and didn't point it my way when I only supplied information *YOU* asked for, then maybe *MY* inferring bone is too hair-trigger. posted by

Sage "We" have always been "cornerized" (reservations, out of sight out of mind, inmates, redman chew, Jane Fonda "chop", etc.) No biggy. As long as you all are reigning only verbal judo's on my punkin' and not real blows, I guess it will be OK (actually my dear old Dad never understood that psych blows were worse than physical blows) Yes, you could roll me out on a "mover's dolly" like Hannibal Lectre (don't forget the mask) and I could address the group looking out over the "cast of characters" I could but think "I am being judged by these?" But thats OK. To the "corner I will retire -- to remain taciturn, quien sabe?"
