What have you had stolen?

Yesterday we had a story about someone who had their sago palms stolen from their yard.

Now we've got a story about an Oildale woman who had two pit bull puppies stolen from her back yard.

So what have you had stolen? Anything from your yard?

I had some packages taken by my neighbors when I lived in a shady apartment complex. But nothing that required bringing a shovel or a leash.

We had some palm trees stolen from in front of the church.  That was the act of some one really low..  The replacement trees are now secured with welded chains and stakes.

I have had MEAT stolen from my deep freeze in my garage!  That's been many years ago, but geeze!  We've had bicycles stolen and my husband has had tools stolen from the back of his truck.

I personally haven't had anything stolen from my house/yard but not to long ago my neighbor came home from work at lunch to find her house being robbed and the robbers were stll there.

How about this one.  My Hayward pool vac was stolen out of my backyard pool.

My 85 Ford F-250, very nice. New paint, tires and wheels and interior stolen from the from of my house.  About 1 year later I received a letter from the Border Division of the CHP and they said my truck was in Hermosia, Sonora Mex.  Imagine that.  Never could recover it, I was told I would end up in jail if I went to get it.

Had a very nice Triathlon bike [Cannondale] loaded with all the racing goodies stolen from my garage in Shafter.

Anglo,

You wouldn't have a 75 pre-smog one ton Crew Cab dually, sitting lonely in the driveway by chance? You could save me a bunch of money for cruisen gas. :>)

'Twas several years ago, but I had parked an old beater Subaru stationwagon in the driveway next to a nearly-new Saturn.  By "beater" I mean torn up interior, smashed-in grill (used to belong to mother-in-law, who thought stop signs were optional.)  Guess which was stolen one night?

.

Had a breakin one day, lost some coins and jewelry but mostly stuff was just trashed, drawers dumped, etc.

Can't help you Tkozy.  I also had a 89 Chevy P.U. broken into and an old bag type cell phone and my address book stolen.   Punks were caught weeks later, they were part of a very young wanna be Mex. gangsters also in Shafter. They said they would watch the P.D. task for drive by and then go hit vehicles.  They broke the windows by throwing spark plugs at them and waited for an alarm of porch light to come on before finishing their task.

So I guess I am back on the prowl. :>)

We just had 6 newly planted trees stolen last week from in front of our brand new church, behind Foods Co on Haley/Height...ugh!  Now we have someone in an RV watching all night...for shame.

I've been lucky but grandson and wife had their apartment door kicked in while they were at work and her newer laptop, his older laptop that wasn't worth anything,  a shotgun, and his 45 stolen.  Along with a plaster pistol in a plaster holster that surrounded a small mirror.  They dumped the jewelry out of the bed but take anything.  Also missing was their chage jar for laundry etc that had about 75 bucks in it.

Thank goodness they had renters insurance.  The really good thing is that it forced them into buying a house before they had planned because they were tired of the vandalism and the lack of caring by the management company.  Now they'll be living out in Tuscany Villas above the fog and some of the valley heat this summer.

I had my car stolen right out of my drive way while we slept. When we reported it the police said they did find my car that morning on Seventh Standard road burned. About a year later I was told that my then-husband paid some guy to do it so he could collect insurance on it. I couldn't say if that was true or not but I wouldn't doubt it at all.

When we were living on Ferguson Ave in Oildale bout 11 years ago. My son had his redline bike stolen out of his bedroom while we were at the store. We must have walked up through the back door while they were in the house because my boys Nintendo and games were all scattered by the door and the front door was open.

Two days later our junkie neighbor rode out of his back yard on my son's bike! Needless to say he wasn't quite the same after my brother in law had a little "talk" with him....

Back in the 80's my buddies (a bunch of white guys) were in a City Basketball League and the game was at Martin Luther King Park!  DOH.  The thieves stole my stereo out of my 69 Camaro and I had to get towed home.  The genius at the City who set that game up should have been fired.  I had my house broken in, and some idiots picked my moms tangerine tree clean!  Some people don't have respect for others anymore.

As mentioned in my blog, Merle Haggard stole my pen yesterday as I was attempting to secure his autograph.  I penned a song depicting the experience in an effort to make the lemon into lemonade.

Vandalism & petty thievery are everyday occurances here on the east side of town. Mostly teens who know if they are caught will get "catch & release" treatment. Has toned down of late because they graffitied the wrong home and got caught doing it. This guy is crazy. All I know is some teen has a broken arm (or dislocated shoulder or something) because he "fell."

Sad commentary that citizens can't expect help from courts or cops, but an emotionally unstable neighbor with a proclivity for violence keeps a street gang at bay.

Best property insurance I know of is a large dog that hates people. I never hear of home intrusions with mean mutt on the property.

Funny,  I know some of the homes over on the NOR side of Mc Cord they have Geese in their yards and I swear THEY ARE SCARY! I can't imagine anyone going in one of those yards :0)

I had a friend in Oildale who used to have a giant Rottweiler in his yard. He would look so sweet and friendly and some would trust him and come in the yard. Big mistake! He wouldn't let them leave.

One day my friend came home from work and a guy was standing on his steps shaking and Tiny was laying at his feet.

He was mad because Tiny had kept him cornered for about an hour. Ha Ha Ha

I have a friend that had a hot water heater stolen from his home in the early 80's!  That is the weirdest robbery I have ever heard of.  However, we had everything of value stolen from our apartment on Christmas day 2006.  That really sucked.  The police showed, did a report, neighbors of course saw 'nothing' and they were on their way.  Never recovered any of our property but thank the Lord, we have regained our sense of security with a top of the line security system and a lot of insurance.
