The lesson to be learned here is that if you are a car thief, and you and your loser buddies take the police on a long, high speed chase, then strike an officer trying to stop you, you had better accept that you get what you deserve. One less potential career criminal eliminated from society.

Unfortunately, 16-year-olds can't think from one nanosecond to the next.  That's where parents come in.  Why that kid was up and out at 2:00AM on a school night stealing cars is the real question his parents should be pondering, and not where the nearest litigation attorney is.

posted by RoyTullis on Apr 15, 2008 at 08:59 PM

What parents? Evidently they are completely disengaged.  The only answer to there non parenting would be if he had gone to bed and then sneaked out.  I done this a couple of times when I was that age but I did not steal cars and run from the cops.  I knew better.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw "0245" as the time. In some Latino subcultures, the older siblings raise the younger ones. Who raises the oldest child is unknown. Whoever raised this punk sure didn't earn a passing grade for their efforts.

Such a senseless unnecessary waste. I feel for the kid's family.

posted by johnburnssucks on Apr 15, 2008 at 10:31 PM

"Ayon's mother, Maria Millan, said, 'They could have shot a warning shot and they didn't. They shot him to kill him.'"

This shows how ignorant the mother is. Police do not fire "warning shots" in a situation like that. They fire for effect.

"Ayon's family plans to hold a car wash at the Super Express in Delano starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday to raise money to pay for funeral expenses."

I laughed until my sides hurt when I read this. Another car wash for another punk's funeral. Have the last laugh: Get your car washed, and pay them with counterfeit money.

Catpaw, the only victims here are the poor people who had their car stolen. As I have said before the true victims are the deputy and his family dealing with the stress of being involved in a shooting. And lets not forget the deputy who was struck by this kids vehicle. As far as the car wash goes, I'm sticking with Whitewater!

I was referring to the gang and criminal lifestyle, which generates tragedy.  A teen is dead. A family is bereaved.

posted by JDubois on Apr 16, 2008 at 07:16 AM

Well, yes, that's one way to put it, "a teen is dead." Another way to say it might be "a young man is dead after stealing a car and fleeing from the cops." Still another way might be "Sheriff's deputies ended a high-speed pursuit of a violent felon before his actions could kill an innnocent person."

Lest anybody think this is overstated, there's an article on TBC main page about a man getting 18 years in prison for a crash in a pursuit that killed a young woman and left her baby paralyzed. Last year at this time, a man fled police at high speed and killed an innocent man on Panama Lane.

These deputies ended a public hazard. It's what we pay them to do. And if the criminal's family is bereaved, at least some innocent motorist's family isn't.

This criminal is gone................however his 15 yr old GF is carrying his son.  The cycle continues.

posted by michele1075 on Apr 16, 2008 at 07:46 AM

Yes witter you are right. I can only speculate,  the child when growing up will hate LE due to the stories his family will tell, leaving out the part he was 16, out in the middle of a school night, terrozing the streets. We will read about him(child) in 16-18 years.  Just my opinion though.

posted by timec on Apr 16, 2008 at 08:41 AM

Bakersfield LE are murderers! They will have to answer for all of their actions. Why do we have non-lethal weapons?

Donnie Youngblood will not ever get my vote again! I will vote for Deputy Self (crackhead cop) for Sheriff before I vote for Donnie. We need a change.

posted by michele1075 on Apr 16, 2008 at 08:50 AM

Murderers, you mean? What do people not get about stopping when police sirens/lights are on or cops yell STOP!! Is that very hard to comprehend?

posted by NancyII on Apr 16, 2008 at 08:51 AM

Timec...calm down.  Bakersfield LE...Sheriff?  Aren't you confused?  Donnie Youngblood has nothing to do with BPD.

Bakersfield LE has nothing to do with Delano.

Speaking of...the other day I heard a newscaster prouncing is DEL ano.  You'd think the locals would at least know how to pronounce the neighboring cities.

posted by timec on Apr 16, 2008 at 09:09 AM

 Nancy

I believe you are confused. Kern County Sheriffs killed this boy. Those are the same yahoos that patrol Bakersfield and Donnie Y is in charge of them.

Thanks Michelle ..Murderers

So.....Michelle if you are deaf you are dead.....Whatever!

posted by OldBlue56 on Apr 16, 2008 at 09:11 AM

timec, if you voted for Sheriff Youngblood, I would assume you knew something about his campaign promises, right? Too bad you never learned how to spell his first name correctly. It's Donny.

But then you probably spell Sharon, "Chairrron".

The police have my sympathy. Between lawyers, a politically correct media that shows more sympathy for the criminals than the police, politicians, risking their lives, jobs, even facing prison for using their guns who would want the job?

posted by michele1075 on Apr 16, 2008 at 09:21 AM

Timec- there is a difference between being deaf and being blind, both know when they should STOP. It's not a whatever issue.  It's about obeying the law, that was set up for our country.

 Old Blue

I actually spell pretty darn good....but when I am typing a blog in between working I don't pay much attention.......

Donnie, Donny, Don-E ...you get the point.

Not only are you a Cop, and a ****, you are now a teacher. You go boy!

posted by OldBlue56 on Apr 16, 2008 at 09:38 AM

So you misspelled his name twice because you weren't paying attention? Typical excuse from your type...

posted by timec on Apr 16, 2008 at 09:58 AM

What I am saying is I could careless how you spell his name. Donnie is still Donny. When blogging all of that b/s does not matter. OB you are grasping at straws ...you can do better than that.

posted by OldBlue56 on Apr 16, 2008 at 10:06 AM

I understand timec. I sometimes accidentally hit the "a" key when I mean to hit the "i" key. I was blogging the other day about a group that was digging a tunnel for illegal aliens to enter the US, and I accidentally typed dagging. But you are right, that b/s doesn't matter.

The non-law abiding teenager is dead.  How sad that he couldn't figure out that all those lights and sirens were for him.  Tsk tsk.

Who I feel for are the Officers you HAD to make that fatal decision because this non-law abiding teenager gave them no other choice.

Peace to those Officers.

Wounds were to the face and neck - seems that those boys have spent some more time on the range.......thumbs up officers!!

timec....I would encourage you to go for a citizens ride-a-long with the either the S.O.'s metro patrol or P.D. on a Friday or Saturday night.  Just take a look at what those darn "murderers" do every day to keep you safe.  It's very easy to Monday morning quarterback a decision like the one that deputy made, but YOU WEREN'T THERE!!!  Less lethal weapons are nice tools to have at your disposal, but it's hard to spary somebody with pepper spray through a windshield.  The deputy stopped the threat, and I thank him/her for that.  As for the baby being carried by the baby.... let's hope for the best, but unfortunately it looks like job security for the folks behind the badge.

God, this 16-year-old has a pregnant girlfriend, too?  What else?  When were the "good" decisions gonna start coming from this kid?  We'll never know now.  My guess is that the really wise decisions would have been years, probably decades away, if ever.  Like with his parents.  Who are they to complain about anything?  They raised a many-faceted burden to society.  They spent 16 years shluffing their responsibilities and complain about society's hour-long response, in the form of a high speed chase of a stolen vehicle.  Where's the shame?

bb, are you over at tracy's house smoking dope and blogging again?

posted by timec on Apr 16, 2008 at 12:30 PM

 Funny OB...haha

I sure hope none of you bloggers' kids or grandkids get shot by the cops.  You'll be changing your tune then.  Shot in the face and neck?  How do you shoot someone in the face and neck from your patrol car?  Wasn't the cop behind the boy backing up or did he stand over him and shoot him at point blank range?  Daniel Rodgriguez will find out I'm sure.  And exactly why were the cops stopping them?  Petty theft? Car theft? Was he a convicted felon, was he shooting at the cops?  Were there any guns found in the dead boy's possession?  Was it necessary to use deadly force?  I hope that sheriff sees that young boy's face the rest of his days.  Don't be so quick to pass judgment when you don't even know all the details.  As I said, it could be your kid or grandkid some day.

I will allow you one thing timec, if you have enough kids and grandkids, you never know for sure......

No matter how YOU live YOUR life you never can be totally sure of your kids and their kids behavior.

I still have faith in our cops here in the Southern end of the San Joaquin however. Especially down there.

cant make a good decision if your parents never taught you how to do so...and now the mother blames the cops?

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PEOPLE!!

timec, I don't get your shallow kind.  First, you don't read the news article carefully enough, and then jump to a quick conclusion to attack the Police, who probably had just saved you and your family from getting mowed down by this crazy maniac kid in the stolen truck.   Why shouldn't the police have killed this person who showed complete willingness to take human life, including that of an officer?  He was reaching for the floorboard and if I were in that officer's shoes I would have gave him the same amount of bullets.  The kid completely deserved what he got and his family just have to pay for the price of their own negligence or ineptness.   As for Daniel Rodriguez, he can take this case on against the public interest if he wants to loose his respectability.   For crying out loud, it wasn't  like the cops shot an innocent kid standing at the street corner or something.

Yes timec, when you post comments like this last one, you just make yourself sound more and more stupid....YOU are the one who missed the details.
