Subject: Fire damages single family mobile home in Mc Farland

MC FARLAND, CA – On Wednesday April 29th 2008 at approximately 5:06 P.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for a structure fire in the 26000 block of Elmo Hwy.

Approximately 13 Kern County Firefighters responded to the scene and contained the fire to the structure of origin.

Upon arrival, fire crews were faced with flames rising into the air from the fully involved structure.

Initial efforts were used to protect the surrounding exposures. The fire was under control in 55 minutes. Due to the nearest fire hydrant being a long distance from the scene, crews used Fire Engines to shuttle water to the fire.

Firefighters saved approximately $40,000.00 in property, including a 500 gallon diesel tank.

The fire destroyed an estimated $50,000.00 in property.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were no reported injuries.

If you have any questions, please contact the Public Information Officer at (661) 330-0133.
