UPDATE: House fire this morning caused by drug pipe, not candle, officials say
Location: 1713 Lewis St., Bakersfield, CA

For the story, go HERE.

Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 0654 hrs (6:54 a.m. PST) a re-enforced 1st alarm from the Bakersfield FIRE Department consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Squad, 1 Battalion Chief, 1 arson unit and various support units responded to a report of structure fire at  a southeast Bakersfield location. First arriving companies found smoke emitting from the front door of an approximate 1200 sq. ft house. A female was trying to assist a disabled male from the home. Firefighters safely evacuated both occupants from the home.

Bakersfield city FIRE crews advanced attack lines in the front door and found a single room fully involved with fire.  The lines were placed to protect the rest of the house and any other potential residents. The fire was knocked down in approximately 6 minutes. BFD and County firefighters provided ventilation to evacuate the heat and salvage efforts to reduce damage to the homes contents.

A female resident of the home received minor burns to her feet, but refused transport to the hospital. The two residents of the home were displaced due to the fire. Damage to the home was approximately $25,000

A BFD arson unit was called to the scene, upon investigation it was determined that the female had been engaged in illegal drug use involving what was described as a “methamphetamine pipe.” Shellie Rene Behill, a forty-one (41) year old female was booked into the Kern County jail.

The house did not appear to have a working smoke detector.

Okay BNT, which is it? Was it a "methamphetamine pipe", like the text reads, or a "crack pipe", like the headline reads? Even though both are drug pipes, they are used to smoke 2 completely different drugs. One methamphetamine, the other cocaine base.

You know, you can hire me as a proof reader before you post your usual stuff. I'll even work from home, with no medical benefits. The cost will surely offset the embarrassment you endure. :)

Maybe she was smoking methamphetamine with her crack.

OB, if you keep axing detailed questions pretty soon it'll just be a pipe!

Then we will have to wonder if the poor girl was just a would be Sherlock Holmes or a veritable Mattloch.

Chico.  I've often wondered what Mattloch smokes in that pipe and if he shares it with RF.

that wasn't even the right address they gave for the home that caused fire on Lewis St.  on may 14.  also the so called disabled man was already walking down his ramp by himself, if he was disabled how could he walk by himself.  He's just a senior.  The poor girl was just an temporary live in care taker who I guess had a problem.  Now that family has no home to live in.  Hope she pays for all the damages,  She'll never care take for that family again...
