Officer involved shooting

Synopsis: Officer Involved Shooting Details: This is a news release of the Kern County Sheriff's Department. Please do not contact the Sheriff's Communications Center.

Details: On Friday, May 16th, at approximately 5:28 pm, deputies from the Ridgecrest subsation were dispatched to  Inyokern on a report of a subject who had just assaulted his father. The subject, later  identified as 33 year old Jonathan Jacobs, then made comments about possibly injuring law enforcement  officers when they arrive. Deputies arrived at the residence and cautiously began checking the property for  Jacobs. As they were on the property, Jacobs began firing at them from underneath one of the mobile homes on the property. Deputy Troy Bream, a 6 1/2 year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, returned fire. Jacobs suffered minor injuries and was taken into custody without further incident. He was treated for his injuries at  Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. Jacobs was then booked for two counts of attempted murder on a peace officer. No deputies were injured.
