Checkpoints are not my cup of tea.  But, if they really wanted to be effective, wouldn't they do it during these same hours on the 4th?  I don't get it.  I know the 5th is a Saturday, but I'm still thinking the 4th would probably give them more of the "desired" results.

Back to my first sentence.  I should reword that to say: "Checkpoints are unconstitutional."  That's more accurate.  Since when do the police have the constitutional authority to stop every single car to see if they are doing something "bad"?  This is pure stupidity.  Yeah yeah, we want to protect people, so we slowly give away our rights, and let the government take more and more power over us.  Sometimes I think this country is doomed.  I hope we can stand up to our government when we finally realize they control us.  Wake up!

I'm saying that checkpoints are unconstitutional.  I don't need a ruling on that.  Open up your dusty little constitution and give it a little read.

Secondly, what is a checkpoint?  They set up on a street and check every car.  Where's the cause?  Once again, pull out that old constitution and read it, and you will see the unconstitutionality of checkpoints.

Also, in Oildale a week or so ago, the police were walking down selected streets.  They would stop every person on the road and search them for drugs and/or weapons.  Once again, where's the cause?  We better stop this crap now.  If you don't stand up for your rights you can kiss them goodbye.

Checkpoints being unconstitutional, and checkpoints being ruled unconstitutional are two different things.  All you need to create a discrepancy is a court with a bias.

Personally, I don't mind checkpoints.  It gets the drunk divers off the road as well as the unlicensed.  I've been through 2 checkpoints and they didn't stop every car in either of those incidents. 

Oh I see loon, even though the courts have ruled checkpoints constitutional, but you don't agree, that means they aren't. Silly me.

Also, when the police do checkpoints, they don't stop every vehicle that approaches. They stop vehicles like every 5th one, ect. That is what makes it random. Some get stopped, but others don't.

And having officers concentrate on a particular area, like they did in Oildale, is different than a checkpoint.

But I have a feelings my explanation to you is falling on deaf ears. It seems you already know it all....

Checkpoints ensures that the laws of this state,county,city are being abided by....everyone that applies for an CDL agrees and SIGNES just that....I for one am glad that these checkpoints are out there...then we can read about it in the news and really see how many are out there thumbing their noses at the very laws that protect us...those are the individuals that slip thru the cracks and kill people while operating a motor vehicle...

Of course,that's just my opinion
