BAKERSFIELD, CA – On Wednesday, May 21st 2008 at approximately 6:21 P.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for an unknown type fire to the Southwest of White Lane and Allen Road. Approximately 20 Kern County Firefighters responded to the blaze.
Upon arrival, fire crews were faced with an area of approximately 20 acres with grass and heavy brush burning. The fire was being assisted by developing winds in the area. Fire crews used hose lines to control the edge of the fire and also a bulldozer to prevent the main fire from spreading to the unburned areas. Kern County Fire Department Helicopter 408 was originally dispatched but unable to fly due to strong winds.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
There were no reported injuries.
