Two juveniles arrested in connection with Tuesday fire
Location: 1621 Miller Street , bakersfield, CA

On Tuesday May 21, 2008 at 0638 hrs (6:38 p. m. PST) a reinforced 1 st Alarm from the Bakersfield FIRE Department responded to a report of a structure fire in a residential structure at 1621 Miller Street (Miller & Flower) in eastcentral Bakersfield. First arriving BFD companies reported heavy smoke and fire issuing from the building, and rapidly deployed hose lines to control the blaze.

BFD Firefighters were able gain control of the blaze in fifteen (15) minutes, but the fire still caused an esti mated $50,000 worth of damage to the vacant structure.

With the assistance of evidence gathered during an onscene investigation, including information regarding suspects, BFD Arson Investigators arrested two (2) juvenile males on Wednesday @ 0700 hrs in connection with the blaze, and booked them into the county juvenile detention facility.

Charges include “arson of a structure” and “conspiracy.” Arson investigations on all other recent blazes throughout the City are still in progress.
