Details: At about 8:00pm a Kern County Sheriff's Deputy was travelling westbound on Whisler Road approaching HWY #43. The deputy began to pass a truck in the westbound lane when the truck initiated a left turn. The deputy took evasive action by driving onto the South shoulder of Whisler Road. The deputy avoided a collision with the truck, but lost control of his patrol vehicle as it went across the East and westbound lanes onto the North shoulder. The patrol vehicle struck a telephone pole on the northside of Whisler Road.
