Oildale man may lose eye from illegal firework

Bakersfield, CA
OILDALE, CA – Thursday July 3rd at approximately 4:54 P.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department, for a man suffering an eye injury from a firework in the 200 block of Hughes Avenue in Oildale.
Upon arrival, fire crews were faced with a 24 year old male patient who was suffering from an eye injury, which was the result of an illegal firework being discharged. He was later transported to a local area hospital by ambulance. This type of injury may result in the loss of his eye.
Kern County Sheriff Deputies were on scene and are dealing with the possible offence. For more information on the possible crime and subsequent penalties contact KSCO.
Kern County Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to remind residents of Kern County that the miss use of any kind of firework can be very dangerous. The use of illegal fireworks may result in an administrative citation being issued; this citation carries a penalty of $1,500.00.

Witters--my 4th couldn't get any safer. The kids are going to bed early so that the fireworks don't scare them. Then I'm going to turn on PBS and watch the Boston Pops and read my book. Ringadingding. posted by
