For Immediate Release              Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Arrest in Burglary Investigation

On 7/22/08 the Bakersfield Police Department Burglary Detail, assisted by the
Kern County Sheriff Department, culminated a 3 week long residential burglary
investigation with the service of two search warrants and the arrest of:
Caleb Michael Bland (22), of Bakersfield.

Bland, the owner of Movement Ride Shop, 10530 Rosedale Highway, was
arrested on four counts of receiving stolen property and four counts of
contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

This investigation began after two juveniles were arrested for several residential
burglaries which had occurred in both the city and county areas.  Detectives
learned that the juveniles had sold the stolen items to Bland at his business.
During this investigation detectives seized various electronics such as X-box
systems, a Wii system, cellular phone, and iPod.  During the searches yesterday
additional suspected stolen property was seized.  Detectives will be working to
confirm this.

This investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bakersfield Police Detective Fred
Calvillo at 661-326-3538.  Anonymous and confidential information can be
provided through Secret Witness at 661-322-4040.

Real smart?!  Let me guess, his defense will be: "I didn't know they were stolen."

I guess he found a way to cut overhead costs.  A real entrepreneur.   But I wouldn't  dignify this guy's criminal behavior by calling him a "business owner".
