ARSON / CAUSE: Under Investigation
 
Monday, August 11, 2008 at 2211 hrs. (10:11 p.m. PST) a reinforced 1st alarm from the Bakersfield FIRE Department and the Kern County Fire Department consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 squad, 1 Battalion Commanders, 1 Arson Unit, and various support units responded to a report of structure fire at an East Bakersfield location. First arriving companies reported heavy smoke and fire emitting from of a single  family residence. BFD companies suppressed the fire in the kitchen and rear of the structure. Smoke was
reported from the house’s attic, ceilings were pulled and the fire in the attic was extinguished.
 
Support companies ventilated the smoke from the house. Truck company crews salvaged the homes furnishing with heavy waterproof covers. The home was searched for any victims but all occupants were out of the house at the time of the fire. 
 
BFD Arson Unit investigating the cause of the fire.
