For Immediate Release                & nbsp;       &n bsp;    Wednesday, August 20, 2008
 
Stolen vehicle pursuit
 
On 8/20/08, at 4:18 a.m. Bakersfield Police responded to a report of an auto theft
which had just occurred at Pro Auto Sales, 2911 Brundage Lane.
 
A witness observed a suspect steal a:
  2005 white Chevrolet Impala,
from the car lot and called police.
 
Approximately one minute later a Bakersfield police officer located the vehicle in
the area of the car lot and a short pursuit ensued.  The suspect struck the center
island on California Avenue at the northbound Hwy 99 on ramp.  The vehicle
became disabled and the suspect fled on foot.  He was located and arrested a
short time later.  
 
The suspect was identified as:
  Gabriel Perez-Grau (25), of McFarland.
Perez-Grau was arrested for auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting
an officer and evading a peace officer.  He was booked into the Kern County Jail.

Yeah, a guy driving a Cheby off a car lot at 4 a.m. would arouse some suspicion...
