New court commissioner appointed

Superior Court of California, County of Kern

Press Release

The Superior Court of California, County of Kern, announced the appointment of Mr. Ralph Wm. Wyatt as Court Commissioner. Mr. Wyatt was appointed by the Presiding Judge Jerold L. Turner after an extensive search and with the unanimous recommendation of the Court. He will begin his duties as Count Commissioner by October 2008 and will be assigned primarily to hear Probate and Guardianship matters.   He fills the Commissioner position vacancy created when long term Commissioner Louie L. Vega was appointed as a Judge of the Superior Court in early June of this year.
“We are delighted to have Mr. Wyatt join the judicial team of the Kern County Superior Court,” said Judge Turner, Presiding. “Mr. Wyatt brings a good deal of experience to the Court both in civil litigation and probate.”
Mr. Wyatt was admitted to the California Bar in 1974. He is currently a partner in the firm Ganong and Wyatt and specializes in federal and state civil litigation. He has served as counsel in over 50 jury trials, has been a volunteer temporary judge, and is a member of the Kern County Bar Association where he served as President in 1990-91. A cum laude graduate from Cal State Northridge in Political Science, he obtained his Juris Doctorate from the California Western School of Law in June 1974. He is a resident of Bakersfield.
Court Commissioners are subordinate judicial officers employed by the Court. They can be assigned by the Presiding Judge to a variety of calendars including Family Law, Probate, Traffic and Civil/Small Claims.
