Police release more details on fatal motorcycle crash

For Immediate Release      Thursday, September 04, 2008

Fatal Accident

On 09/04/08, at about 11:37 a.m. officers of the Bakersfield Police Department
responded to the intersection of Hartford Avenue and Stine Road for a major
injury traffic accident.
Investigation revealed a black Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Hartford
Avenue, west of Stine Road. As the motorcycle approached Stine Road, the
driver failed to stop for the posted stop sign. The motorcycle entered Stine Road
and collided with a commercial garbage truck.
The motorcycle rider sustained major injuries and died at the scene. He was a 31
year old from Bakersfield. The identity of the victim will be released by the Kern
County Coroner’s Office.  The driver of the commercial truck was identified as
Bobby Vasquez (33), of Bakersfield. Vasquez was not injured.
It does not appear that drugs or alcohol was a factor. This investigation is
ongoing. Anyone with information on this accident is urged to contact Officer
Dillon at 326-3967.

Apparently this idiot thought the STOP sign was only a suggestion...

He broke only the one, Chico.  That's a better average than Shrub has maintained.

Not funny folks

Guys, this guy died and you think it is time to make jokes?  What cold-hearted shells you are.  Grow up and have some compassion.  What if this was one of your family member?  Think about what you are doing to a life taken too soon.

ricktracy, if this dumb a** would have stopped for the stop sign, we wouldn't even be having this blog. Nor would you have to organize the upcoming car wash.

Ther is more than one dumb a** in Bakersfield.  Hmmmm....

posted by sincalryder on Sep 4, 2008 at 11:38 PM

Like the dumb*** retired cop on here that if he was so concerned about other dumd***s, would actually go out there to work law enforcement rather than think that becoming a blog god would make the diffrence he was unable to make when he was still on the force..................    Just saying...

and ricktracey, the rest of us like you will keep the family in our thoughts.    BTW I have had my breacks fail before due to a caliper being pushed out. Not saying that is what happened, but saying unless the bike is inspected, it cant be ruled out.

posted by GoBlue41 on Sep 5, 2008 at 07:45 AM

he was on a honda so I am assuming that it was a heavy bike... somtimes the brakes go bad just as mentioned before, and I see that it was a stop sign and not a light, it could be that he never noticed the sign, its getting harder and harder nowadays to notice a sign when you get use to the lights. but makin jokes about a guy dying is wrong, when one of you have one of your children run into the street chasing after a ball i be sure to make a wisecrack about it when the garbge truck takes junior out... we'll see how like to joke then

Jesus, you're right Blue41!

A crime was not even a factor and these guys are  still making jokes about another guy's death. That's bad Karma.

Perhaps it's the air quality that creates such social freaks?

Anyone besides me notice the huge increase in motorcycle accidents in the last few months?

posted by sincalryder on Sep 5, 2008 at 08:53 AM

Yes Nancy, there was a story done on it just last week. It shows the large increase each year as well as the increase in numbers of motorcycles that are purchased.  With gas prices the way they are , you are only going to see this number keep rising unfortunately. Many more bikes on the road, and many more inexperienced riders out there. Not only are they getting new bikes, but alot of them are starting out on brand new bikes, which do have power that many riders will not admit is too much for them. The one good thing pointed out in the story was that the number of people enrolling in the local safety courses is also rising, which will help in some cases, but that does not help against other drivers.

mor and more people choose to ride motorcycles now. probably most were purchased around the same time frame. i think that people are getting comfertable and now over confident

OldBlue why don't you take a day off from blogging so you can sit and think of some new Bloggs? You say the old s*** everytime someone dies!!! You seem like the dumbiest male that ever blogged on the face of this earth. My respect goes out to the family.

This was near the White Lane and Stine Road intersection.  That place is a death trap.  I am always scared of driving on White Lane right around that area.  I hate pulling out of the driveway of the shopping center I work at.  Today, an old man was making a left turn into the parking lot from one of the turn outs and another car...more than likely turning right from Stine Road (since the skid marks were in the far right lane) slammed into him.  I have seen more car accidents on White Lane...up and down the whole damned road..  The intersection of White Lane and Wible is horrible and so is the one at White Lane and South H. Something definitely needs to be done about it.  And maybe people should just start driving a little more cautiously.

meandpete, do you really think the area of White Ln. and Stine Rd. is more dangerous than a whole lot of other areas in this town? You don't get out much, do you?

And jennifer, do you really think I am the "dumbiest" male that has ever blogged on the face of the earth? At least I'm not some blogger who can't spell dumbest. Why don't you take a day off from here and brush up on your spelling.

Mark (motopoet) told me that he saw a woman riding a scooter come up to a stop sign and drag her feet to stop....almost didn't stop.  Earlier this week I was at Vons on N, Chester and there was a wreck at the intersection of China Grade Loop and Chester.  They had a guy lying on the raised median waiting for an ambulance.  I could see one of those motorized skateboards with a pole seat lying on it's side in the street.  Two guesses what happened there?

I ride myself. I have for 35 years. The best advice that I can give is that half of the cage drivers don't see you. You're invisible. The other half do see you, and want you dead. It'll make you a little paranoid but seems to keep you alive.

OldBlue56..   How  you can sit there are call a dead man a dumba**, and call him an idiot is beyond me.  The poor guy made a mistake, unfortunately it cost him his life.  We all make mistakes, even you bro.  I know his mother and she is absoluely grief-stricken, and you calling him names is rubbing salt in her wound.  Your the only blogger calling him names,  I know you're only doing it to stir the pot, and you, like the rest of us, feel for the guy.  But please, for the sake of his survivors, stop with the name-calling.
