BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release             Friday, October 31, 2008

Explorer Testing

The Bakersfield Police Department Explorer Post #521 is currently
recruiting and testing for the position of Police Explorer.  The testing will take
place on Tuesday, 11/18/08, at 6:00 p.m. at the Bakersfield Convention Center,
1001 Truxtun Avenue.

The Bakersfield Police Explorer program provides an opportunity for young men
and women to experience first-hand how a police department functions and what
it takes to get started in a challenging career in law enforcement. The program,
geared around law enforcement, gives youth self-confidence, discipline, and a
feeling of community involvement.
