Kern County Fire Department Press Release

The type 3 strike team led by Battalion Chief Smith will be returning from the Tea Fire in Montecito at today. This team will arrive back at the Kern County Fire Department Headquarters at approximately 1:30 P.M.  today November 18th 2008. At this time you will an opportunity to speak with the strike team leader and some of the crew members who worked on the front line on the Tea Fire.

The type 1 strike team led by Battalion Chief Miller which worked on both the Sayer Fire and the Freeway Complex will also be returning later today. Due to the dynamics of this team it will be breaking up as they enter into the County. Also, the Dozer Strike team will be returning today.

There are still a total of 21 persons working in various management or leadership positions on either the Tea, Sayer of Freeway Complex fires.

Those 21 must need the overtime...Hawaii calls even in a bad economy!

Good call, there, BBQ. If it means paying overtime, we should allow people's homes to burn out of spite rather than pay people to fight the fire.

Or do you think the firemen should work for free?

Thanks to the firemen who helped save my hometown and some beautiful canyons.My thought go to all those who lost so much~ especially the brothers at Mount Calvery Retreat House.
