This is a news release of the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Date:  Wednesday, November 19, 2008
Time:  2:20:48 PM

Details:  On 11/18/08, Kern County Sheriff's Office Deputies from the Frazier Park Substation responded to the 7000 blk of Ivins Dr. in Lake of the Woods on a report of a human skull being located.  Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with the Reporting Party (a LOW resident) who said he had been hiking in the woods, with his dog about 1/2 mile north/northeast of his residence when he found a human skull on the ground.  Deputies responded to that location and confirmed the skull was human and contacted the Coroner's Office who responded to the scene.  Deputies located additional items (possible clothing and other items) that were all turned over to the Coroner's Office.

On 11/19/08, KCSO Search & Rescue members from Bakersfield and Frazier Park (including the Mounted Posse), Frazier Park Substation personnel and the Coroner's Office conducted an additional search of the area.  Additional items were located and turned over to the Coroner's Office.  Coroner's Office personnel advised there was no reason to suspect foul play in this case, at this time.  Investigation continuing.

Are you aware that the map links to Canada?

Fixed this. Who would have known there was a Lake of the Woods in Canada? Learn something every day.
