Faulty lamp suspected in weekend fire
Location: 1500 Daulph , Ridgecrest, CA

KERN COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT P RESS RELEASE

Ridgecrest, CA - Saturday December 13th 2008 at approximately 5:20 A.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for a house fire in the 1500 block of Daulph in Ridgecrest.  Approximately 18 Kern County Firefighters responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, crews were faced with a developing fire in an attic of the Mobile home. The first engine crew made an attack on the fire while the other engines checked for fire spread. The fire was contained to the attic and one bedroom.  Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes and extinguished very quickly. Their quick actions prevented the fire from spreading outside the attic and causing a lot more damage to the home and contents. Firefighters were able to save approximately $20,000.00 of property and contents. However, the fire destroyed an estimated $40,000.00 of property value. Wind was a factor in this fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be attributed to a faulty lamp.

There were no reported injuries.
