Update (5:50 p.m.)

California Highway Patrol has closed Highway 178 (also called Walker Pass Road) from Chimney Peak Road to Highway 14 in the Inyokern area due to heavy snow and ice. It's about a 20-mile distance.

California Highway Patrol has also reopened Highway 155, but is requiring tire chains and 4x4 vehicles to get through the snow.

EARLIER POST:

California Highway Patrol has closed westbound traffic on Highway 155 near Lake Isabella after several vehicles got stuck in the snow.

The highway is closed between Wofford Boulevard to Greenhorn Summit — about a six mile distance. Only residents with identification are allowed through.

The highway, through Wofford Heights, is main route in the area.

In other nearby noteworthy advisories, CHP is requiring chains for anyone going through Walker Pass.
