Kern County Fire Department Press Release

WASCO, CA - On Tuesday, January 6th at approximately 2:00 P.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for a construction worker who had fallen 15 ft into an open trench. 16 Kern County Firefighters responded to the incident on Gun Club Rd, ¼ mile south of Hwy 46.

Upon arrival, fire crews were faced with a male construction worker who slipped while walking along the edge of an open trench. Firefighters entered the area to assess the patient, he was placed and secured onto a rescue stretcher and safely raised to the surface using rope hauling system.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital via air ambulance. There were no reported injuries to firefighters.
