I wonder how much that law enforcement operation costs - first watching; and then the warrant; and then the bust and the prosecution and incarceration; and, then the post-incarceration watch ... of a marijuana grower? All for Maraijuana ... you go guys! You know, marijuana's legal in California. --virgil posted by

And I wonder how much it's going to cost the taxpayers to clean up after her mess?!!! Marijuana may be legal Virgil, but growing 97 plants and selling are not. What you want to do in the privacy of your home is your business, however, when you have that many plants growing inside of your home, you are putting your neighbors at risk as well as the environment. Just where do you think she disposes of the chemicals? posted by

What you want to do in the privacy of your home is your business, Law enforcement quite often disagrees with you. They've been known to invade homes without legal probable cause to do so. Disposes of the "chemicals?" She probably pours them on her rosebushes. posted by

I'm sure law enforcement often disagrees with me, but then again, I've never had to worry about them invading my home with or without probable cause. Why? Because I don't do anything to warrant them to even *think* I am doing anything illegal. They have bigger problems then little ol' me, like busting someone who is growing 97 illegal marijuana plants in her house.

Honestly, Marijuana growing indoors can be hazardous - electrical fires, though, not chemicals. Marijuana growing is not meth production. In fact, it has been illegal since only 1937 - before, it was grown and used for centuries. And, we did it safely; we made clothes and paper and rope and, among many other things, medicine from it. Did you know marijuana seeds used to be a common food substance (crushed into meal)? Yes, marijuana seed pancakes. My suggestion to removing potentially hazardous indoor marijuana grows is decriminalization. The prohibition of it has never made sense anyway. --virgil posted by

Why? Because I don't do anything to warrant them to even *think* I am doing anything illegal. And then only with a proper warrant issued under probable cause. Not always done: http://abesturn.com/2008/12... . They have bigger problems then little ol' me, like busting someone who is growing 97 illegal marijuana plants in her house. And bigger problems than someone growing 97 harmless plants in her house. posted by

Harmless? The plants themselves are harmless, it's everything else that she uses to create these harmless plants that I'm worried about. I agree with Virgil, the fires are the problem with illegal indoor growth. Thanks for pointing that out Virgil. posted by

Yeah. We know those Jobe's plant-food spikes can be sharpened to kill. . If you're worried about fires, you have no problem with cops invading homes to remove portable space heaters, right? posted by

RF, you are just way to argumentative for me. Cass, I do agree that cooking meth IS a much bigger problem, but I still take my stand on growing that much marijuana. If you want to grow a plant for your own use, that's your problem, but when someone is growing this much and endangering the people around them, then it's a problem for all to be concerned about. Illegal is illegal, no matter how you look at it. I look at it this way: if it were not illegal, those plants would've been in the back yard consuming sunlight. If she were growing apples and oranges under those grow lights, it would present exactly the same "danger" to her neighbors. You seem to have missed the point of this blog. The supposed danger justifying the illegality is *ENTIRELY* caused by the illegality. And if you think either California or the nation has the resources to waste busting pot growers, I direct your attention to the budget problems at both levels.
