Nine18kk care to comment??? (She just had her Saturn stolen). Older Saturns are a hot commodity right now. The only thing that will really save you is "The Club". posted by

The Club deters thieves but doesn't stop them. The persistent saw the steering wheel and slip them off. That happened to my son's bright red, 1964 Mustang in San Francisco. We were fortunate to get it back. posted by

I've owned two Saturns and my key *DID* fit someone else's car when I tried it once--to the consternation of the tow-truck driver who was trying his slim-jim tool after the car's owner had locked her keys inside. I've got an alarm on my current Saturn which sounds even if you open the door with the correct key. posted by

I am sure that any given key to a major automaker's car can open at least 50 other cars. There are only so many possible unique ways to cut the grooves and squiggles in a common car or house key. posted by

I suppose I shouldn't mention the bump key problem with most major door locks and deadbolts (unless you pay for the specialized locks from a local security company). How this Saturn problem was described (worn keys on certain models) sounds a bit reminiscent of how bump keys work. The whole lock and key concept has many shortcomings. posted by

A lot of good a CCW permit would do if you're in class and your car is out in the parking lot. posted by
