Earlier this week we reported on an alleged fight that led to a stabbing inside of Murphy’s Tavern.

Police said that on Sunday, 22-year-old Richard George Flores was involved in the fight inside 14 Monterey St. venue, also known as McMurphy’s Irish Pub, off Union Avenue on the south side of the Highway 178 underpass.

Flores had already gone to Memorial Hospital with wounds to his chest and right arm by the time police arrived at the bar shortly before 2 a.m.

We received reports from a caller who said Flores was never inside of the bar. This ended up being true.

Bakersfield Police Sgt Greg Terry said today:

“The actual stabbing occurred across the street from the bar.  The victim had tried to enter but was denied entry. There is no suspect information.”
