How can you sexually assault someone and she not be hurt? And of course the man is black. posted by

This is so scary! I left Michael's, 2 stores down from Babies'R'Us, at 2:05 while this was happening! I was aware of the exact time because I checked my watch to make sure I had enough time to go to another store before picking my daughter up from school. And today finding out that the victim's baby was in the car the entire time makes this even more horrific. Erikbako is right......how idiotic to state in the report that she was not injured, yet she was raped! posted by

She was raped in a school parking lot while school was in session? That's a strange place considering it isn't far to fields. There are way too many nut cases running loose. posted by

she could have been forced to perform felatio.....remember ericinbako(mr everybody should have sex with everybody because everybody belongs to everybody) .....rape doesnt have to be violent.. it is a sexual act against one's will....a fight doesnt need to be put up in order for it to be rape. there has been a lot of crime happening in that parking lot lately too...many stolen stereos out of vehicles. posted by

I agree with TresChicChef, this is horrific and am so glad that the mother and toddler are alive. On so many occasions things end up even worse when a victim is taken to a second location. If this criminal was brazen enough to take this mother and her child to a second and then third location and commit this heinous act he is not likely to stop until he is caught. Experts talk about the "gift of fear" but if you're child is in the car and a man is holding a gun to you telling you to get in and drive you're probably going to do whatever he asks to keep your baby safe.My thoughts are with her and her family today. I hope we at least get a composite sketch of the coward soon.

How can you sexually assault someone and she not be hurt? Amen, and Amen. People are always asking me why I don't move down from Tehachapi. And my husband laughs at me because I always drive with my doors locked. I know things can happen to anyone at any time; I just choose to make is as difficult to get to me as possible. posted by

Sorry, but this reeks of Susan Smith. Unless BPD is withholding more information, I don't believe it, especially after seeing the "witnesses" on 29. (edited to note that she didn't harm her child, but accused a black man of assault with no apparent witnesses or video to substantiate the crime) posted by

Even though this happened in Rosedale, ladies, this is a reminder for you to be cautious no matter where you live. I would hate for any one of us to go through something so traumatic. For those that are non-believers until proof has been made in this case, I sure hope you are right & there wasn't a rape. Until then, I'll keep my eyes wide open, my defense skills updated and my pepper spray at hand. posted by

not to detract from how horrible this incident is, but last weekend in the same parking lot, i parked my truck waaaaaaay out in the north 40 of the parking lot, as it is big, and those small spaces give me claustrophobia. i took up 2 spaces. on my way back out to my truck, i had a warning from the security on my truck that i wasnt parked correctly. the nearest car to me was more than 25 yds away too. yet, no one saw this??? i wonder if the CSUB homeless man wondered out north of the river??? posted by

Sorry, but this reeks of Susan Smith. Unless BPD is withholding more information, I don't believe it, especially after seeing the "witnesses" on 29. How can you sexually assault someone and she not be hurt? I can understand why people are skeptical when a rape seems as flaky as this one and, especially when the accused rapist is black in a predominately white neighborhood. Having said that, I believe this incident is true. I don't think it started out to be a sexual assault but started out as a robbery that turned into an assault. As far as the victim not being hurt during the sexual assault, she totally complied so there was no reason to physically hurt her. And, I imagine the assault was a forced oral sex act. She is probably damaged emotionally. I would NEVER willing get into a car with a armed thug. Even if it meant getting shot in the back as I ran away. But she had a baby with her so that made her more willing to comply. posted by

This story had "top of the fold" coverage in Saturday's hardcopy. The crime happened Thursday, and no news since. What's happening? posted by
