Search warrants reveal details on cases

Here’s an inside look at what law enforcement is working on, told through court filed search warrants:

• New details were released regarding the murder of Chantha Meas, the woman who was abducted from her home Oct. 13. Jeffrey Paul Chitwood, who police say stalked her, was arrested in connection with the crime:

Among the new details from October:

- Meas was shot twice, once in the left cheek and the second above her right eye.

- Detectives noticed several spots of blood and tissue on the corner of Chitwood’s 2002 Chevrolet pickup, consistent with blood spatter at the crime scene.

- Detectives seized from Chitwood truck a Motorola phone, a key ring with seven rings, a key ring with four rings and one pair of orange work gloves among other things.

- Detectives said when Chitwood was questioned, he “admitted to ‘hiding out’” at his parent’s house, who themselves were uncooperative with investigators.

Chitwood is due in court April 21.

• Police were trying to get access of Yahoo! Inc. records for a counterfeit money case. A woman was trying to sell her big screen television through Craigslist for $200.

Four men went to her house Jan. 26 to pick up the TV and handed over the money. But when she went to the bank to deposit it, the teller told her they were counterfeit.

So police are trying to find out who they were by looking at the e-mail account and phone number they used in the online purchase.

• A 21-year-old man was stabbed and beat to death with knife, brass knuckles and a tire iron in January in Lost Hills, a witness who recorded the event on his cell phone told Sheriff’s investigators.

Carlos Alexander Serrano died shortly after the Jan. 11 beating and stabbing. The witness told detectives he and four others confronted Serrano is an apparent gang fight. Two people have been arrested for the crime: Frank Perez, 18, and Ulyses Aviles, 20.

Officers seized from the witness's room a set of brass knuckles, a Wasco High behavior report and items with “gang-style” writing.

• Drug Enforcement Administration searched a home on Feb. 24 on the 500 block of Higgins Drive and seized ammo, a shotgun and marijuana.

Their goal was to find methamphetamine there. They were told that the people inside of the house sold 4 to 6 pounds of meth per day. However, they found none.

• Police are looking for the person who solicited sex from children in a chatroom under the alias “pedomolasster22.”

The person entered the chatroom and asked if there were underage teenagers in the room. The person said he or she molests his or her kids “all the time.”

The tip was handed to police via CyperTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Fresno office. The person is from Bakersfield.

Officials were looking through the person’s e-mail records.

• A man planned to rob his ex-girlfriend’s father’s house with eight others, blow it up and also blow up his pregnant ex-girlfriend with pipe bombs, a tipster told police.

That’s what a friend of the man told law enforcement after he witnessed the man preparing explosives on March 3 at his Rosedale home. The tipster said he felt guilty about knowing about the plan and couldn’t keep quiet about it.

The tipster told police that the man had 10 pipes, a jug of gunpowder, a box of nails, screws and bolts, and electric tape. The plan was to steal a safe from the father’s house, blow it up and steal its contents.

He would buy a plane ticket and then fly to Greece with the money, but not before blowing up his ex-girlfriend. He was upset with her because she was 9-months pregnant with another man’s baby.

Eight other people were told to be involved in the plan. Police searched the home, but no evidence was found. Court records show no arrests were made either.
