Armed Gang Member Arrested

This is a news release of the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

On 03-18-2009 at about 1900 hrs a deputy assigned to the Rosamond substation was on routine patrol in the area of desert and center streets in Rosamond.  The deputy had cause to engage in a consensual encounter with three male blacks.

During a conversation the deputy saw indications of possible gang attire. The deputy asked for and was given permission to search one of the individuals for weapons. The deputy found concealed on the person of Deon Fite (18) a single shot loaded .22-caliber pistol.

 The deputy continued his investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Deon Fite.  Fite was arrested and transported to Mojave Jail where he was booked on several penal code violations including P.C. 12021.1 (A) Possession of a Firearm by a person previously convicted, P.C. 12021(a) (1) Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and P.C. 186.22 (a) Participation in a Street Gang.  Fite was held on a bail of $96,000.00 dollars
