Bike Patrols. In all the years I've lived here I have never seen one. I am glad they exist. The first time I read an article about them my first thought was when I used to live in Oildale the LE would target tweakers on bicycles. They would pull over anyone on a bike after dark who didn't have any lights on their bike. I think I'll move back there. : ) posted by

Michelle, you give someone enough crack and they will think they are hotter than Gael Garcia. Speaking of crack and 8 balls, I'm gonna go swimming - ciao. posted by

Poprocks. Crime is crime. You think that possession of narcotics for sale is not real crime? I think the law enforcement in this town are doing a great job considering the amount of crime that happens here. This is not all they do. There are teams out there that spend months working the big drug cases. Have you not read some of the stories on this. One involved over $800,000 of drugs. posted by

with bakersfield being one of the most affordable places to live in CA, roaches flee big cities like LA and places like the Bay Area, so their welfare dollars go farther here in Bako....with that comes crime

poprocks obviously doesn't understand how street prostitution impacts the community, especially in the areas where it happens. He/she shouldn't pop off about something they don't know anything about. posted by

I agree with Ward. Prostiution is a vice but it brings out all the freaks, weirdos and associated addictions (drugs, most commonly) with it. When I lived in the San Fernando valley my block was a hot bed of prositution - old men dressing up as women to whore themselves out, people driving back and forth leering at youngsters on their way to school. What I think they should do is start publishing the photos of these Mrs. Warrens in the Californian (fair is fair - they do that for guys caught having sex in the park) to deter and humiliate them into choosing another profession.
