Robbery suspect arrested in Oildale

On 5-17-09 at approximately 0440 hours, Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office were sent to investigate an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Faststrip Store located at 630 Airport Drive.  The store clerk told Deputies a white male subject had entered the store, handed the clerk a note demanding money from the cash register, and told the clerk he had a handgun in his waistband.  The male subject lifted his shirt and showed the clerk a silver object resembling the grip of a handgun which was in the subject’s waistband.  The clerk gave the subject an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the cash register.  The subject fled the store on foot.

Deputies began conducting a follow-up investigation.  On 5-17-09 at approximately 2120 hours, Deputies detained a 15-year-old male juvenile from Ventura, CA, in connection with the robbery.  The juvenile was identified as the suspect who committed the robbery.  The juvenile was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for robbery.
