Why can't it be called the "Junior Apprentice Program"? Why does it have to have a colour attached to it? If it were a "white" program or "hispanic" program, or an "asian" program, or an "Indian" program - would it be any different? or would it be racist? Just askin'. posted by

There are some serious issues in the Black community and they are trying to ameliorate the situation without blaming others or making excuses. It also a great way to establish positive relationships law enforcement and the local Black community. It was not cool for a Black kid to want to be a cop when I was growing up. Maybe programs like these will change the negative perception the Black community has of cops. posted by

For those reasons and more this is a very good thing. Exposure to other ways of living, positive ones, can open doors and minds.
