Reminder: No fireworks allowed in Sequoia National forest, monument

FIREWORKS PROHIBITED IN
GIANT SEQUOIA NATIONAL MONUMENT, SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST

SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST       As we prepare for what will likely be a busy holiday weekend Forest officials remind visitors that fireworks, even “safe and sane” are not allowed in Giant Sequoia National Monument, Sequoia National Forest.  “It is especially important this year that Forest visitors don’t bring fireworks into the Forest,” says Western Divide District Ranger Priscilla Summers.  “The shrubs and grass are very dry and can easily burst into flames; all it might take is one small spark.”

All developed campgrounds located in the Hume Lake and Western Divide Ranger Districts are open.  In order to ensure a camping spot advanced reservations are recommended by calling 1-877-444-6777 or on the World Wide Web at www.recreation.gov <http://www.recreation.gov&g...

Off-highway vehicle use is restricted to designated roads within the Giant Sequoia National Monument.  Mountain-bike use is restricted to trails and roads.  Trails where mountain-bike use is prohibited are signed.  All motorized and mechanized use, such as mountain-bikes, are prohibited within Wilderness areas.

The Buck Rock Foundation is hosting its ninth annual Independence Day Celebration and Open House at Buck Rock Lookout on the Hume Lake Ranger District.  The event, which will take place on Saturday, July 4th from 10:00 to 4:00, will be held at the base of the lookout.

For up-to-date information please call the Hume Lake Ranger District (559) 338-2251 or the Western Divide Ranger District (559) 539-2607 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Our offices will be open on both Friday and Saturday; the 3rd and 4th of July.       &n bsp;

I can't wait to shoot Smokey and set him and his forest on fire.  In this heat, who would want a fire anyway?

Last year at Balch Park we were about to take a walk (with our 357 for company) and we heard this *BOOM* echo around the campsite.  Scared the crap out of my tough talking cousin LOL.  Someone had exploded a rocket M-80 or something.  Yeah, people are idiots.

But guns are OK now.  Like at the Holocaust Museum.

No offense BNT, but isn't this information self evident.

If Smokey won't allow someone to build a campfire I don't suppose he wants them launching a rocket.
