I know the police are trying to do more community involvement here to improve their reputation, but it seems like every day I get online they are asking for help in capturing one person or another.  Is it me or does this sound like they are not doing their job as well as they should?  I don't see a problem with asking for the public's help after having done their due diligence to find him, but it's the frequency of the requests that has me concerned that they are sending out the wrong message that they ALWAYS need help.  In any event, I hope they catch him.

I understand your concern, but I don't think it should be a concern. The police ask for help because witness' are very important and because it is not always easy to find the criminals. I don't think they are always asking or help. I would be surprised If they ask for help for more than 10% of the crimes that are committed daily. I also think that with the budget cuts we will see an increase the police asking for more help from the community.
