Teenager shot near Potomac Park

This is a news release of the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
Please do not contact the Sheriff's Communications Center.

Date:  Thursday, October 08, 2009
Time:  11:32:54 PM
Department Contact: Lt. Russ Albro

Details:

On 10-8-09 at about 6:50 pm, Sheriff's Deputies were called to the area of Potomac Park in the Bakersfield area on a call of shots fired.  When they arrived, they found shell casings in the street to the south of the park.  A witness told them the occupants of a compact vehicle fired at a blue passenger car and both vehicles fled the area of the park to Oswell Street, where they went in different directions.  About 25 minutes later, a 17 year old male arrived at San Joaquin hospital suffering from gunshot wounds he said he sustained near Potomac Park.  The juvenile was listed in stable condition and offered little information about the shooting.  The Sheriff's Gang Suppression Section is assisting with the investigation.
