Photos of hit and run suspect released
BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; October 29, 2009 The Bakersfield Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a subject wanted for questioning in connection with a felony hit and run, wherein the victim sustained moderate head injuries. On 7/23/09, at about 9:30 p.m., a Caucasian male in his late thirties, driving a green and tan 1997 Ford Ranger pick up with a dark green driver door, struck a female bicyclist near Columbus and Occidental Streets. The driver fled and abandoned the truck at the apartment complex at 2601 Columbus Street where he was observed drinking and driving erratically in the parking lot prior to the accident. The subject depicted in the attached surveillance photos was at the Walgreens on Mt Vernon Avenue making purchases before the accident. He was driving the suspect vehicle at the time and was in the company of a white female in her 20's, 5'2" to 5'5" tall, having long dark straight hair. Any one with information regarding the identity of this subject is encouraged to call Hit and Run Investigator, Claudia Payne at 326-3960.

Unless he is from out of town, someone must recoginize this man and his dog. Time to report him. I was wondering why it takes so long for survellience photos to be made public. This is not the first case that was months ago. Does anyone know the process of getting them published? posted by

~~ My daughters 2 best friends were hit while walking in a crosswalk next to the library in front of their highschool last week. The young man suffered multiple injuries (thank gawd he will recover 100%) as he took the direct hit, the young lady was nicked in the back by the rear view mirror and has alot of lower back pain, These were teenagers, and some idiot in a truck HIT them, and left them laying there... I just cant fathom hitting ANYONE, and not rushing to their side to provide immediate medical care, and call 911 ...amazing! Thank goodness that a witness got a partial plate and pretty good description of the vehicle, it will be a good day when this coward is brought to justice, as well as the one in the article above! posted by

Apparently the police have hit a dead end with the investigation and are now asking for the public's help. I can not imagine driving off after hitting someone. I'll never forget riding my bike down the street and a lady backing out of her own driveway knocking me down and then speeding off in horror. Her own driveway. I had learned by then to be wary of drivers in "cages" and had slowed down otherwise worse that a few cuts and bruises would have occur ed. I hope someone recognizes this person and does the right thing.

The press release from the BPD is dated today. BNT could not have included it in their blog any sooner than they did. Nancy asks a valid question. Who was the truck registered to? posted by

One of the cool things about Oildale is the open streets and low traffic volume. Well, except for Airport Drive during rush hour. I moved here from the neighborhood of California and Stockdale Highway...imagine the difference. We have Vonss, 2 RiteAids and a wide assortment of fast food. Not to mention 2 Mexican restaurants several coffee shops several bars, low crime rate in spite of it's rep, and again....very little traffic.

I like the 'dale... I used to love going to the fast food joint at Roberts and No. Chester and ordering the "Heart Clogging Burger and Fries". And shopping for my wife on special occasions was always so easy in the 'dale. Her birthday, Christmas, or our anniversary. I just pulled into the donut place at Roberts and Airport and bought her one of the cool rugs or flags displayed in the parking lot. You can't go wrong buying your Mrs. a Dale Earnhart flag, an Elvis Presley throw rug, or a nice tapestry of a unicorn. posted by

Ah yes, TWO donut shops. 4 independant fast food burger joints. Several Mexican drive ins, 2 Subways, Sonic where all the cools cars are on Fri nites, Wendys, Taco Bell, Weiner Schnitzel, McDonalds, KFC. Just across the freeway is another Taco Bell, Burger King, Quiznos, Starbucks and Jack. What else do you want? How many arteries can we clog? posted by

Dodger, careful with the stereotypes. Trouts is the last of the country nightclubs and isn't isn the same class as say, The Longbranch or Rockets and Sprockets which by the way, sounded a lot better when it was The Skylark. As for Trouts, people of all walks of life go there on the weekends. Except me that is. posted by

I lived by North High for years it was really nice. I have friends and family that still live there. They have nice places and decent neighbors. I wouldn't want to walk down by Plymouth dr area any evening. Not out of fear it's because seeing some of the ghost white, skinny, little, scab covered, shaky, screwed up, pukes carrying 2 in blades are so pathetic I might laugh myself to death. Every neighborhood has it's trash. But people who group everyone in an area as "bad" because of a few creeps is as lame brain as it gets. Okay, I have to speak on this matter or the current discussion. The wonderful part of Bakersfield, is the diverse areas that make up this wonderful place we call HOME! Yes, there are bad areas in Bakersfield, although they're not generally one area. There are drugs in every part of this town....From east, west, north and south. It just depends what kind of drugs you can get in the different areas. Yes oildale is popular for meth, although southwest is popular for cocaine, E, and G (a similar drug to E). This all depends on how my\uch you want to spend. My theory to this my neighborhood is better than yours is very much undisputable. There are peices of crap in every neighborhood. In these neighborhoods are people that were created by our creator. He made these people and regardless of their mistakes in life or the size of their pocket book, he does not judge. He does not call the people he created roaches. So before you start calling people roaches LANABUFORD, maybe you should consider the demeaning manner that you judge everyone. This is for everyone that judges. LANABUFORD and you are a mother....WOW!! I hope that your child doesn't marry a roach!! KARMA's a BITCH!! posted by

Sitbackandlisten, I called someone a roach? so you think that calling someone a roach is worse then calling someones 14 yr old daughter a tramp or whore? Get real! Go preach your crap to someone else. BTW one of my girls did get with a roach.... I think I still have some of his little bug guts on the bottom of my shoe! posted by

So sitback, how much do you spend on your trashy drugs each week? You sound like an expert. People make THEMSELVES what they are. Trashy ROACHES live in every State, city and neighborhood we all know that. Your argument for not judging flew out your cardboard window when you attacked another blogger. You sound pretty grumpy. I think it's time you go to one of your well known neighborhoods and get your drug fix then sit and rock yourself in a cold corner.
