Man convicted of beating 90-year-old to death with bat
A Bakersfield man was convicted Wednesday of beating a 90-year-old grandmother to death with a baseball bat in 2007. Timothy Titus Rodriguez, 41, now faces a possible death penalty. Rodriguez and his fiancee at the time Chenoa Martinez worked in the victim’s northeast Bakersfield home doing odd jobs in mid-2007. Ninety-year-old Thelma Long was found dead on May 2 and her daughter Cathryn Reeves had also been severely beaten. In addition to murder, Rodriguez was charged with attempted murder, assault, robbery and burglary. Accesory charges against Martinez were dropped in 2007 but she pled no contest to a forgery charge, for writing checks in Long’s name. Martinez was sentenced to two years. Rodriguez will be back in court Nov. 12. 6 comments from 5 users

FIANLLY he is getting put where he belongs for good!!!! This one was CRAZY for real...check out his rapp sheet .On a personal note I hope he doesnt get the death penalty because thats what he wants. I feel sorry for the families he affected and even his own. Sad how you raise someone a certain way and they dont end up ANYWHERE close to it. posted by

Why not give him the death penalty, its what he deserves. He killed this helpless poor old woman for no reason so i think a death penalty should fit the crime. I know if someone was to beat my 90 year old grandmother like that and even kill her, i would be satisfied with the death penalty for him. posted by

Yea, take a look at this monster's rap sheet...he's had it far too easy for the kind of things he has been arrested for and charged with. From what i've heard he spent 3 years in patton...what he deserves is 300 years is hard core prison. I know the victim's family in this case, and all i can say is finally, this creep is gona get what he deserves. Unfortunately, had he gotten it when he first deserved it, the family would have been spared it's loss. I hope they can begin to move beyond this horrible tradgety, now... posted by

These two criminals should be put out on the local streets to be beaten with bats. That would serve 'em right! To harm any senior citizen really irks me! posted by

kbabe - I'll do you one better.
Beat 'em close to death with bats and let 'em sit for a month recovering. Beat 'em again, once a month for the rest of their lives. Forget corporal or capital punishment laws. posted by

The only reason why I say I hope he doesnt get the death penatly is because I know he just wants to be put out of his misery and then he wouldnt have to deal with Prison life. Why give him the satisfaction of something so easy? He has made SEVERAL suicide attempts let him do it that way. Every time he has gotten away with things is because prosecutors couldnt prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he had committed the crimes he was accused of. I do ahve mixed emotions about it because my tax dollars would be wasted on him getting 3 meals a day and other things but this S.O.B. wants to die now. I just hope the family he hurt will hopefully begin to heal soon and my prayers are with them and his poor mother. She is TOTAL opposite of what he turned into.
