McFarland man leads deputies on chase, rams cruisers

Pursuit Results in Arrest for Assualt on a Peace Officer

Details:At approximately 8:30 p.m. , a deputy from the Delano area attempted to stop a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit lasted approximately 7 minutes and it reached speeds of 80 miles per hour.

During the pursuit, two unidentified subjects jumped from the vehicle . Those subjests have not been located at this time. The driver continued and he lost control of his vehicle and spun out near the intersection of 3rd. and Perkins in the Mc Farland area . As the deputies came around the corner , the suspect drove his vehicle towards the deputies and he struck both Sheriff's vehicles causing minor damage to the Sheriff's units. The suspect's vehicle became disabled and he was taken into custody.

The suspect was arrested for Assault with a Deadly weapon on a Peace officer , Felony Evading, Resisting Arrest, and a Parole Violation. Arrested was Jaime Perez age 25 of Mc Farland.

Sounds like the Sheriff's Deputy violated the ADA---Automobiles with Disabilities Act!
