I know booze shouldn't be sold to minors. I also know even well intentioned adults shouldn't be buying booze for minors. Yet, I'm still not in favor of entrapment. Unless the adult is approaching the minor and offering to buy, using a decoy is setting up a citizen minding his own business and not committing a crime. In other words, had a decoy not attempted to buy booze a crime would not have been committed. Manufacturing a crime is contradictory to crime prevention and law enforcement. My own life experience makes me aware of the irony of teens imbibing alcohol. I bought my first legal beer in California at age 17. I was in military uniform at a post exchange on Ft. Ord. posted by

Entrapment? I am all for personal rights, but if a kid asks you to buy them beer and you do, you deserve it. There are people who will buy alcohol for minors when it isn't a sting operation. There are people who will say no. If you say yes when it isn't hte cops, I don't feel bad for you when you say yes when it isn't the cops. Life is pretty simple. Don't buy alcohol for minors. If you do, whether it is a cop or not, you broke the law and you know it. Then publicizing these efforts helps people see that there are real consequences to your actions. This time the consequence was a ticket and fine. Next time a dead teenager might end in something more serious.
