 A crash at about 5:10 p.m. Sunday on Highway 14 outside Inyokern, in northeastern Kern County, has apparently killed one person and injured several others, scanner traffic indicates.   Emergency personnel shut down the roadway near the intersection of 14 and Highway 178 around 5:45 p.m. to allow an air ambulance to land. On 10/22/09, deputies were dispatched to a peace disturbance in the 10400 block of San Emidio Street in Lamont, CA.  When deputies arrived, they found 18-year- old Paul Maytorena was the victim of a stabbing.  Maytorena eventually died of from his wounds.  Two brothers who live at the residence in Lamont, Manuel and Eddie Catalan, fled prior to deputies’ arrival and were identified by witnesses as the suspects in this case.   Anyone with information...

A 71-year-old Wofford Heights man was killed Sunday as he was crossing Wofford Boulevard outside of a crosswalk, the California Highway Patrol reported. The man was hit by a 2004 Chrysler Sebring driven by 29-year-old Y. Amaya of Lake Isabella whose vision was obscured by the sun at the 4:10 p.m. accident, officers said. Amaya suffered minor injuries in the crash. She was not arrested.
