On 11/5/09, Bakersfield Police conducted a warrant sweep in an effort to locate
17 outstanding warrant suspects; one suspect for attempted murder, and the

A Bakersfield man was convicted Wednesday of beating a 90-year-old grandmother to death with a baseball bat in 2007.
Timothy Titus Rodriguez, 41, now faces a possible death penalty.
Rodriguez and his fiancee at the time Chenoa Martinez worked in the victim’s northeast Bakersfield home doing odd jobs in mid-2007.

A 55-year-old Porterville man turned into the lane of an oncoming truck and was killed by the head-on impact, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country Van north on Highway 65 near Merced Avenue at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday when the crash happened.
The impact caused the big rig to overturn, officers said. The highway was closed for five hours.

On 11/2/09, at 1:38 p.m., Bakersfield Police responded to 3619 'M' Street to a
report of a man down outside the apartment. Upon arrival, officers located Jerry
Ennis 58 lying on the ground, suffering from a laceration to his neck. Ennis was

A 71-year-old Wofford Heights man was killed Sunday as he was crossing Wofford Boulevard outside of a crosswalk, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The man was hit by a 2004 Chrysler Sebring driven by 29-year-old Y. Amaya of Lake Isabella whose vision was obscured by the sun at the 4:10 p.m. accident, officers said.
Amaya suffered minor injuries in the crash. She was not arrested.
