Brittanicus - > Illegal Immigration! No longer just a border issue? -> Everybody who comes to America is welcome...?
Everybody who comes to America is welcome...?

My ancestors are from Russian Alaska as part of the Inuit tribes, so like the original American Indian I was here first..supposedly. However, America was built on English Common law and introduced civilization for all its faults. Many of my tribal members was massacred by Russian whalers in the 19th century. We are all Americans first and the people are governed by laws..without it we would have anarchy. The 'Rule of law' is all that separates us from a third world mentality

Incidentally we cannot just condemn illegal immigrants from South of the border. For three decades people from foreign countries have been overstaying their visa. Without any retribution like other who jump ship. It's not just those who slip by our agents guarding the border. Although you cannot help to profile them, because specically on the border states they are the main culprits

Americans are the ones who instructed our worthless politicians, to defend and protect this country from enemies domestic and foreign. most have corrupted their oath of office to dance like puppets to special interests. I for one want our borders enforced and illegal aliens removed from America. Not to do so will bring upon us unimaginable hardship for taxpayers, who have forfeited their rights to a globalist open border free market society. If we have another AMNESTY, millions more will pour into this nation, expecting even more government handouts.

The liberal press, judges and all the pro-illegal immigrant Governors, Mayors and city supervisors will bring America to its knees. We are sealing terrible economic fate for our children, because that more people mean a shortage of resources. This includes water and energy. First we must seal our borders, search out pariah employers who hire illegal foreign nationals and let these people deport themselves. Once done than we can promote a legal, orderly Guest worker program.

hopefully people better realize that eventually this all encompassing invasion will cause overpopulation

I don't trust people who have to resort to 24+ point font to make their point.

You know what I mean?

so the history books will write ... "the fall of America was cause by the illegal immigrants" Good god !!!! I agree illegal immigration is an issue but painting it a Doomsday scenario. I just don't see that.

That's because you don't think in terms of the racist vote in political campaigns, foodjunkie.

The Nazis had the Jews, the Republicans have the hispanics.

HUH !! :)  and the shortage of resources i have a hard time pinning on illegal immigrants. Shortages of water, oil and other natural resources are to blame on Legal Americans who love to waste. Illegal Immigrants are always to blame. Shortages of jobs ... oh the illegals took them ... stealing goverenment assistance ... oh its the illegals fault. What about all The LEGAL americans that do nothing but abuse the system... and there are MANY of them. If you sent every illegal back today the same abuses and problems would exist. Then who would be to blame ?? Illegal immigration is an issue but they are not to blame for Amercias problems.

Especially when we could pay for "illegal" aliens' health care out of the savings from a single-payer system.

Government resources are down because the idiots at the top tapped the coffers for giveaways to the top one percent, not because the bottom one percent is getting too much.

Maybe white Americans should take up illegal residence in Mexico, starting with the border towns.

If you want to encourage Republicans to do so, I'll chip in $20 for gas.

Just a quick clarification, last time we had an amnesty program, it was signed into law by that dirty, liberal hippy Ronald Reagan.  The next time it was considered, it was under the ultra-liberal, left-wing kook George W. Bush.

If you don't understand the issues, you can't diagnose them.  Illegal immigration happens because people with money like having a class of workers who don't make minimum wage.  If labor laws were tightened and people who hired undocumented workers were liable for criminal prosecution, illegal immigration would stop.

The political party that riles their base screaming about "illegals" is the same one that makes sure that businesses have enough people working below minimum wage without workers' rights so they can make even bigger piles of money.  We can't "regulate businesses" and as a result, they are playing you at both ends.

It reminds me FOX, where the news division makes money complaining about the moral turpitude that is promoted by their entertainment division.

Preach it!

;-)

People have becomed accustomed to the sweet little lies until they forgot the truth. The American lifestyle isn't made possible because Americans are so good or because God blesses America. It is made possible because the poor suffers for you. I've read figures saying that each person with a 1st world lifestyle keeps 11 people in poverty to support that lifestyle. I can't vouch for the truth or not of that statement, but it is worth thinking about. The farm worker harvesting the ingredients for your often oversized meal and the factory worker producing another trinket to add to the collection in the garage once the novelty wears out is often poor and undocumented because that's the only way you can afford to buy the products and thus keep yourself comfortable and the companies in profit.

The recent economic climate does suggest that the smoke is blowing away and the mirrors are shattering, though. Brace yourselves.

We shouldn't forget the effect of NAFTA has upon illegal immigration.  NAFTA created an unequal equation of wealth distribution in terms of trade and business development between countries.  Several American jobs were lost due to the provisions of NAFTA because companies prefer to enjoy "Free Trade" and operate outside of the U.S.  There is no simple solution.  We have lived under NAFTA for 15 years.  The common worker of Mexico will chase money as needed.  The elitist have designed an economy of exploitation which does not benefit the common American worker nor the poor of Mexico.

Readdressing minimum wage and labor standards are only the tip of the iceberg.  Perhaps, goods and services should not be marketable unless the standard was applied internationally?  Let's not forget the various call centers that have emerged in India because American companies are able to pay a fraction of the wages.   American companeis are rewarded financially for exploiting foreign workers and by not employing Americans.

First, we are not American Indians; we are Native Americans.  Indians are from India.

The history of the Americas is the collective history of North and South America, including Central America and the Caribbean. It begins with people migrating to these areas from Asia and possibly Oceania during the height of an Ice Age. These groups are generally believed to have been isolated from peoples of the "Old World" until the coming of Europeans in the 10th and 15th centuries.

The ancestors of today's Native Americans were hunter-gatherers who migrated into North America. The most popular theory asserts that migrants came to the Americas via the Bering Land Bridge, Beringia, the land mass covered by the cold ocean waters in the Bering Strait. Small Paleo-Indian groups probably followed the mammoth and other prey animals. It is possible that groups of people may also have traveled into North America on shelf or sheet ice along the northern Pacific coast. Cultural traits brought by the first immigrants later evolved and spawned such cultures as Iroquois on North America and Pirahã of South America. These cultures later developed into civilizations. In many cases, these cultures expanded at a later date than their Old World counterparts. Cultures that may be considered advanced or civilized include: Cahokia, Zapotec, Toltecs, Olmec, Aztecs, Purepecha, Chimor, and the Inca.

Second; Here we go again about illegal imagration.  We Native Americans are a conqured people, they stole our land, and placed stolen people on our land.  They brought their laws and form of govenrment; as of today it is the best system in the world.  I will concentrate my focus on illegals migrating from the south because that is what the anglo-saxon is focused on; not all the other illegals from asia and europe who want to come here and terrorize and attack our way of life as opposed to those from the south who are originally indigenous from our continant.  It is their rascisim and predejuices that blur their vision.

Third; I concur with Griffin64

" If labor laws were tightened and people who hired undocumented workers were liable for criminal prosecution, illegal immigration would stop."

Well Tom, maybe I've missed something, but could you enlighten us as to which Democrats are actually trying to "tighten labor laws" and prosecute people that hire "undocumented workers" (re illegal aliens).

TracyAlk, the other side of the NAFTA coin is that American-subsidized food moved south of the border and put a lot of Mexican farmers out of business.  They, in turn, came here looking for work to feed their families.

Drilnlift, right now I only know of groups within the Democratic Party who are pushing for these changes, most notably unions.  It's a tough position to take because the big money is against it.

Good lord, I can barely read that horrid diatribe of filth.

Obama has voted for measures to cut off government contracts to companies which hire undocumented workers--like that San Diego company helping to build the silly fence--but that was deep-sixed with the rest of the immigration reform bill.  Which I applauded, as we can do *MUCH* better with an increased Democratic Congressional majority under President Obama.

But yes, neither of the two parties has done much about the one thing which could alleviate the minor problem of undocumented immigrants.  And the way campaigns are financed is at the heart of it.

TomW, be sure to pay attention to the "free trade" agreement currently being drafted between countries like India and China.  The U.S. is a major player in this deal and is exhibiting some powerful influence.  In the end the common worker of every country gets the shaft while the elite power-holders reap benefits.  Countries like Cambodia have experienced record development in terms of foreign investment while Cambodians lose their homes and starve.  The exploitation is not limited to the foreign worker, afterall, the common working American will find that jobs continue to disappear.

Seriously, I don't know if either party can take on these huge issues.  When campaigning in Ohio, I saw Hillary and Obama lightly touch upon issues such as NAFTA and the necessity of securing American jobs.  But, I am not confident that a monumental solution is near.

Thanks for the heads-up, Tracy.  It should tell us something when "free trade" is in opposition to "fair trade".

How about a free labor agreement? I'd love to work in Canada...
