Cheapskate - > Cheapskate -> Free tacos with gas receipt
Free tacos with gas receipt

You gotta love this headline: Jack Feels Your (Gas) Pain!

That comes to us today from the PR folks at Jack in the Box, who want you to know they're handing out two free regular tacos on June 26 to any customer who brings in a gas receipt. (No copies! No cheating!)

"The rising price of fuel is really putting the pinch on consumers," said Terri Graham, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Jack in the Box Inc., in a Jack's press release. "Giving away free tacos is our way of letting guests know that Jack's got their back in these tough economic times."

No taco hogs — one order of two free tacos per customer!!!!

The deal's good from midnight until 11:59 a.m. that day.

Now before you bloggers point out the obvious, let me say it: Yes, I do realize that if you go there you'll likely spend money on a soda and fries or other stuff.

(An aside. Ever wanted to interview Jack? Well, the Fast Food Maven blogger at the Orange County Register, Nancy Luna, wanted to. Read it here. So there's a shout-out to Nancy, a former co-worker of mine!)

" you may be broke from paying for your gas; but we'll make you fat for free!!!" -- no thanks.

I wouldn't  get fat Tiff - I ate one of their tacos once about 2 years ago and about threw up my socks! Even free they are not worth it!  Now...................if it was taco bell!!!

Jack in a Box has horrible tacos. I had two tacos a couple of weeks ago. I was not impressed. It tasted like hot baby food in a tortilla. Will they be giving bibs and rattlers away, too?

I like Jack in the  box. We don't have one here.

Last two times we traveled to LA  we all were very excited to hit Barstow to see a Jack in the box.

Hey... I'm gettin' me some.... I might even get some at more than one place...I like Jacks tacos.... and hey Tiff, I'm already fat... so no harm there.... the reason they taste like that jfrancias is because there is no meat in them... they are made with soy protein... I'm no vegetarian, but I still like 'em... really good with curly fries and a couple of Coronas... yeah man !!!

I got curly fries at the Jack on California and Oak night before last and couldn't even eat them.  Usually they are sooo good but these were completely saturated in greas.  And I'm talking dripping mushy with grease.  I've never seen fries like that.  I went to the trash (outside) to throw the soggy mess away when a young man with khakis and a name tag came out.  I showed them to him and his response was ..gee...uh..they're so thick now they soak up grease.  I said no, I get them all the time and they're never like this.  He was at a loss and all he could say was..sorry.  I told him they looked like they's been sitting a while and just dropped back in the fryer..he looked horrified and said oh no..we don't do that.  Horsefeathers..I'm not THAT stupid.

What on earth are these people thinking in the food business when you tell them the food is inedible not because you don't like it but because it's terrible?   I understand if I buy something I haven't tried before and it's awful (to me) it's on me.  But a regular item dripping with grease is too much and should be replaced immediately.

I got chicken strips at Arby's drive thru once and they were cold and soggy.  I got out, went in and told them.  They mad eme a new order on the spot.  The Jack on CA and Oak is one I won't go to again.  Not even for free tacos.
