Cheapskate - > Cheapskate -> Free chicken Friday
Free chicken Friday

Calling all chicken eaters.

This Friday, Feb. 27, Chick-fil-A is giving away 10,000 sandwiches.

The deal kicks off at 10:30 a.m., company folks say. One per customer.

The new restaurant is at the northeast corner of Stockdale Highway and California Avenue.

Can't make it Friday? Check out reporter Courtenay Edelhart's full story about the eatery's opening and the chance to camp out for a year's worth of free food.

I am sure we will get stuck with the cleanup bill.

Like everyone else  I enjoy a good 'FREE' chicken sandwich now and again..but I refuse to wade through a crowd to get one...and oh my goodness they close on sunday..a bunch of religious fanatics..

What time does this start again?? <(:-)

I used to love Chick-fil-A! I had two at every Alexandria Aces game when I lived in Louisiana in the mid 90's. Not sure if I'm going to brave the crowds on this promotion however, got a lot planned for today...

Bad marketing timing for all of us Catholics... first Friday of lent and all. Oh well, at least Micky D's is offering two Fillet O' Fish sandwiches for $3.50... I think I will go there instead.

Thought the Catholics gave up giving up meat on Fridays for lent for lent.

When I was "in" decades ago my dad routinely got exempted because he was fighting the godless Commies.

I can eat the chicken but I've given up the bread for Atkins...

It is still practiced widely RF. Always has been in my family... and will continue to be. I remember a few years ago St. Patrick's day fell on a Friday... the Irish Catholics had to actually get permission from the church to have their corned beef dinners on that day.

good god....

BTW  ever notice there is never any RDA on sugar on nutritional information???   40g is about what should be taken in daily for an active adult...yet, you look at the sugar in a pepsi, or other non diet soda.....over 40g.... your whole days sugar intake in a 12oz can

and our doctors wonder why obesity and diabetes is prevelent???

i wonder why the good ole gubment doesnt do anything to protect from ourselves on this one??? and why they dont offer an RDA on sugar?

consipracy?  conspiracy ?

Funny thing is I could have that stuff on Atkins and lose weight.  Not much sugar in it.

If I could choke it down, that is.

Well RF, that gives a whole new meaning to the term "fat head".

Who the heck would eat pork brains out of the can ... I wonder what that must looke like on the plate?

I'm sure lentils are better for you.  Cheaper, too.

Here's one:  pig headed, in the can.

My mother always made us eat fish on the first Friday of Lent, and we weren't catholic. Although I've always suspected my mother wanted to raise us catholic and my dad nixed that idea.

As for the chicken, it's too bad their sandwiches come with pickles. I can't stand pickles. Even the juice left behind after the pickle has been picked off is too much for me. I imagine for this promo, that it's all premade sandwiches, with pickles, so today is out for me. I'll have to wait until they open and special order a pickle-less one.

And no, I won't be in line to be one of the first 100 customers.... I actually need to work on Wednesday, so I can't camp out waiting for it to open Thursday. I never have understood the camping out for a bargain mentality anyways. I guess my time is too valuable to me.

And, Satisfaction Guaranteed !

How are them canned pork brains ( in milk gravy ) ?

OMG, RF...my dad worked for Armour when I was a kid. He brought those canned pork brains home all the time! He got them for free. We used them for dog food for our boxer. It must have been good for the dog because she lived to be thirteen.

I wonder what that must looke like on the plate?

I can answer that...it looks like dog food!

Alton Brown, in his motorcycle road-trip show, once had a pork-brain sandwich at a local cafe.  The patrons were p*ssed off that the government wouldn't le them make them out of cow brains like the did in the olden days.

He got it down, somehow, on camera.  Whether he kept it down...
