Have You Ever Doubted God?
Have you ever doubted the Bible? Maybe given evolution a second thought? There was a time a few years ago that I wondered, ’Is it possible that all this could be? I don’t even know where God could have come from!’ However, as you mature in your relationship with God you realize that’s where faith steps in. For those of you that may need a bit more convincing maybe this will help... God the Creator of the Universe The universe exists and we all know it. The question is where did the universe originate? There’s two answers to this question: 1. A wise, powerful God created it, or 2. Matter developed from it’s original form and over millions of years evolved Which is harder to believe? If you had lived on an island all your life and had never seen another being or known anything but life on this island and one day you came across a pocket watch on the ground. A pocket watch, with all these small mechanics that make it tick. Would it be more likely that it was placed there, or that a bunch of unrelated things came together to evolve into this watch? The Law of Biogenisis, (an established law of science) says life only comes from things that are living. Evolution contradicts science because it suggests that life can form from dead matter. Does offspring come from the same kind of parents? Or do they create totally different things? Millions of things reproduce every year and the offspring is always the same as the parent. Evolution teaches that 1 kind of offspring can create a different life form and that all life forms came from one. There’s no argument that living things adapt to their environments but no proof that a fish produces a bird! God the Creator of Living Things The Bible states that man has dominion over animals. Is there an animal that uses letters and numbers to speak or solve mathematical problems? What about inventing machines, tools, utilizes fire, found ways to obtain the use of electricity? If man evolved from animals why is there such a gap in our intelligence? Why is it that man wants to find and worship the source of its existence? If man evolved from animals, how do we explain the differences? If ’survival of the fittest’ is your response, how does the appreciation of art, music, ect make us more fit to survive? There’s no answer for this because man doesn’t have these things in common with animals but with God. After all, we were created in his image. Proof Through History and Geography 2 Sam 11:3 refers to the Hittite Nation which is mentioned often. For years, skeptics used the fact that no nation had been found to discredit the Bible. However, in 1906 a man dug up Hattusa, which is the Hittite Capital. After years of research we have found that the civilization was at one point up with Egypt! Exodus 1:11 says that Israelite slaves built Pithom and Raamses with bricks of clay and straw, then clay and stubble, then clay alone. In 1883, the ruins were examined and all three types of brick were found. Isaiah 40:22 "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy and spreads them like a tent to live in." This book was written when people still believed the world was flat! How did Isaiah know? Because the Bible is God-breathed! Job 26:7 "He stretches out the north over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing." How did Job know that nothing held up the earth? Ancient men believed many errors about this. How did Job know the truth? Because the Bible is God-breathed! Psalm 8:8 "The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas." This verse actually inspired Matthew Maury to search for the ocean currents. Until this time no one knew of these. The Bible often stated scientific truths before they were known.
"...it may be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archaeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or in exact detail historical statements in the Bible. And, by the same token, proper evaluation of Biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries." - Dr. Nelson Glueck (Rivers in the Desert, p. 31) "...archaeology has confirmed countless passages which have been rejected by critics as unhistorical or contradictory to known facts ... Yet archaeological discoveries have shown that these critical charges ... are wrong and that the Bible is trustworthy in the very statements which have been set aside as untrustworthy ... We do not know of any cases where the Bible has been proved wrong." - Dr. Joseph P. Free (Archaeology and Bible History, pp. 1,2,134) Is there questions that aren’t answered? Things we can’t prove? Sure! But what would be the point of faith if we had all the answers? The mystery of God is often what draws others to Him! Just think, if you make the right decision, accept Jesus into your heart and carry your cross, God could answer all your questions for eternity! So maybe the next time your sitting in your college science class and your professor suggests that evolution is the answer, you can stand firm in the fact that your faith is real and that your God created all things! 18 comments from 13 users

It takes "faith" and faith only....there's NO proof of God, and there's no real proof of Jesus, except some story book of the Greatest Stories Ever Told, called the Bible. Check out this link. posted by

Sojo, the two basic questions asked on this blog are, do you doubt God and/or the bible. Quite simply, I bet EVERYONE has at some point in there lives...even you, by your own admission of being raised in an athiest/agnostic family would have to say the same. posted by

Yes Woof, in the past I doubted God and by His grace He is helping get over myself. Sage I think the poster is referring to and old experiment were they put a piece of meat into a sealed jar and nothing happened to it because, it was protected from bugs and other agents of decay. Thus proving worms didn't magically appear on rotting flesh, but were introduced to it from the outside. posted by

Jesus didn't exist. HE EXISTS---present tense. Unless you're able to receive him in your heart (that happens by humbling yourself), your head will never acknowledge that he IS. And yes, I have had doubts about God's existence. The doubts always make my faith stronger, and we should never be afraid to admit we have them. posted by

Blognroll, I was really po'ed by the comments you posted; the one where you accepted praises for your efforts to help those of us who experianced our childhood without our birth parent(s), with a song. In fact, I ws so angry that I decided to take a break, and work through my feelings, and the anger, I felt, and as the anger was released, I clicked back over to see what was going on back here at the Bako blog, and the first thing I saw were your words above. Where you wrote that by humbling yourself, you can experience Jesus, It felt like a hug fron Jesus, thanks.

Yes Woof, in the past I doubted God and by His grace He is helping get over myself. That's what you think, Buffoo. I talked to God about an hour ago at the gym, and he thinks you're hilarious. He said that he's just giving you enough rope to hang yourself. posted by

Those comments don't ring a bell, montfred, perhaps you could post a link. I don't recall posting any offensive comments, montfred. I try to be nice at all times, but if I offended you by anything I may have said, I'm truly sorry. posted by

*sigh* Why do people assume that evolution is unChristian? You do know that you can be a theist and love science at the same time, right? I have a lot of questions that you didn't answer. Can you prove your God exists? If your God is the ultimate, apex creator, and "something doesn't come from nothing", then where did that God come from? Which version of Christianity is the "correct" version? I find it infinitely harder to believe that something no one can prove snapped "his" fingers together and created this universe in six days (and,...just so I'm clear - which version of creation is the correct version? There's two in the Bible, you know?). If it's a question of believing something with NO evidence versus MULTIPLE, testable scientific processes that have been observed for thousands of years, then I think I'll believe in the process with the evidence. It still wouldn't reflect on whether I was an atheist or theist. I know a handful of brilliant scientists who believe that there is a deity AND that evolution is more than a theory. They don't believe one belief makes the other impossible. Are you telling them they are "doing it wrong"? The Law of Biogenisis, (an established law of science) says life only comes from things that are living. Evolution contradicts science because it suggests that life can form from dead matter. Um. No. Not even close. Evolution and abiogenesis are completely different things. Evolution does not speak about the origins of life, it speaks to the process of natural selection and the ability of living organisms to adapt and pass on traits to successive generations. Evolution in no way, shape, or form, suggests that life could come from dead matter. Abiogenesis, on the other hand, suggests that life started through a process of chemical alteration and energy. Yes. It's pretty well-accepted that parents of a species will birth off-spring of the same species. But, offspring is NOT always the same as the parent (as you suggest). Small variations in genetic code and mutation work over very long periods of time to adapt. Yes. Lliving things adapt? Antibiotic resistant bacteria? What about any of the thousands of animals that are adapted perfectly to live in Mojave as opposed to say, in Alaska? Do you see many super furry animals with thick fat layers hanging out in Death Valley? Look at the plants in different areas! There adaptations are part of the evolutionary process.

it's pretty incredible how this argument keeps coming up. I've never doubted God existed. Up until three years ago, I had no idea what God was really about, I had no experience in the Church or really getting any teachings about Him. But I had a bad view of him because of the condition of my life. There was a lot of hurting going on, and I couldn't for the life of me understand why God would create me and put me in this life. But as I learn more and more every day, God was there through my pain and suffering. He knows me, inside and out, and He was there. I didn't know Him, I surely didn't love or trust Him, so life just got worse. Today I have the same life, but every day I fall more in love with it. Life is no longer a punishment, a prision sentence, it is a gift. I don't need to think things to death or analyze anything anymore, because I don't need to worry about the details, I just know my heart is happy and that's all that matters to me. posted by

Hmmm. The further I got away from Jesus, the more I began taking responsibility for my actions, and the more my life improved. To each his own, I guess.
