The Condors say that no contract has been signed, yet, but apparently British forward Matthew Myers, will be playing for the Condors this season. At least, that’s the story on the web site of the Nottingham Panthers, the team the 6-foot-1, 189-pound forward played for last season. Born in Cardiff, Wales, Myers, 24, has played his entire career in England. Interestingly, former Condors goaltender Kevin St. Pierre will be playing for Nottingham next season.
When is a story not a story?
From this vantage point, it’s not a story when one can’t get the facts. Or at least a single version of what might be the facts from a source who had something to do with the story.
Which is why The Californian has not reported the reason that Condors coach Marty Raymond and assistant coach Mark Pederson were suspended by the team earlier this season. We aren’t sure of the facts.
A local television station, using an...
Bottom line: Las Vegas was the better team and that’s why the Wranglers are advancing to the ECHL Pacific Division finals and Condors players are contemplating what to do for the next few months.
A month ago, the Condors were the better team but by playoff time the situation had changed.
The loss of the aging Ferraro brothers late in the season — Chris due to a broken leg in a scrum with Alaska and Peter due to league suspension for an altercation during that...
So it comes down to this.
Game 7 on Wednesday night at The Orleans Arena.
Win and advance.
Lose and go home.
It doesn't get any simpler.
And the Wranglers should have all the momentum after scoring three straight goals in a span of six minutes and 40 seconds for a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night.
That outburst started with 1:56 left in the second period and conintued thorough the first 5:44 of the third period.
The Condors, who had been doing everything right and had a 1-0 lead,...
I feel for the fans who did not get back in their seats for the start of overtime Saturday night at Rabobank Arena.
They missed one of the most dramatic victories in Condors history.
Mark Derlago blasted a slap shot from the left circle past Las Vegas goaltender John DeCaro 11 seconds into the extra frame to lift the Condors to a 4-3 victory and 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
The celebration was one for the books as well as the 5,000-fans roared their approval in a...
As bad as Bakersfield's performance was in a 4-0 loss to Las Vegas on Friday night, not much blame could be put on goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji.
Yet leave it to some fan to call in on the radio post-game show and put the blame squarely on Fukufuji.
Seriously?
The Condors were down 2-zip before some of the fans had even reached their seats and there wasn't much Fukufuji could have done to prevent that from happening.
A perfectly-executed 5-on-3 power-play goal which Fukufuji had no...
Wow.
From the perspective of a fan, hockey games just don't get much better than Bakersfield's 6-5 overtime victory over Las Vegas on Wednesday night.
Wide-open, full-throttle hockey that produced 10 goals and a 5-5 tie after two period with Dave Bonk getting four of those for the Condors (and the fifth sombrero as he joined Mark Derlago, Mike Wirll, Tyler Michel and Andrew Ianiero in the hat-trick club).
Bruce Graham lifted a backhander over Las Vegas goaltender John DeCaro with 4:34...
It took a period, but the Condors — the team that went 19-5-2 to close out the regular — emerged in their first-round playoff match up against the Wranglers on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Down 2-0 after the first period and facing a potential 2-0 deficit in the best-of-seven series, the Condors went back to basics — getting pucks deep, cycling and driving to the net.
Condors coach Marty Raymond moved Chad Painchaud back up to the Dave Bonk, Mark Derlago line to start...
A couple of hours have passed since the Condors opened the first-round ECHL playoff series against Las Vegas with a 3-1 loss and we're still wondering what happened to that team that won 19 of its last 26 games, seemed to score at will and played with an edge?
Maybe the bus picked up the wrong team for the roadie to Las Vegas.
Certainly, the Wranglers played a strong overall game, especially in their own zone where they allowed just a handful of scoring chances. So give them credit.
But...
Condors coach Marty Raymond submitted his 23-man playoff roster to the ECHL on Monday, leaving rookie defenseman Sean Hurley without a job.
Hurley had been assigned to the Condors by the Anaheim Ducks and Raymond said he talked with Ducks officials while in Anaheim on Sunday after Hurley did not show up for a meeting Sunday morning with Raymond.
“I told him he had to meet with me Sunday and he told me it was his day off,” said Raymond who had an animated conversation with...
