Matt Beleskey almost found his way to Bakersfield.
But when Nick Boynton cleared waivers, and the Ducks found a spot for the veteran D-man in Manitoba on Wednesday, that opened to door for Beleskey to be placed back on Anaheim’s roster.
The Orange County Register talked with Beleskey about the situation on Wednesday.
Its just that time of year. A lot of movement in the NHL, which means a lot of movement in the AHL, which means a lot of movement in the ECHL.
Trickle up or trickle...
Officially, the Anaheim Ducks reassigned forward Matt Beleskey to the Condors late Monday but who knows when, or if, he will ever show up on the ice in a Condors sweater.
Beleskey, 21, has played 34 games in the NHL this year (nine points) and has never played below the AHL level. He played 58 in the AHL last season and got into two NHL games and has been in 15 AHL games this season.
There has been a lot of player movement in Ducks Country since the weekend and the organization certainly...
I’m sure its just a coincidence, but on the same day the Condors had a defensemen reassigned to Abbotsford in the AHL, the Utah Grizzlies, who are an ECHL affiliate for Abbotsford, had a D-man become available.
The Condors have acquired veteran defenseman Chris Allen (6-foot-3, 223) from the Grizzlies for Mr. Future Con$iderations. That makes the third D-man the Condors have acquired from Utah (Evan Stoflet and Chris Brooks are the other two) since the Anaheim Ducks started moving...
Back-to-back losses at home to the Idaho Steelheqads certainly stung, but not nearly as bad as the news Condors coach Marty Raymond got following a 3-2 loss on Saturday night.
The Anaheim Ducks, who had stocked the team with a bevy of American Hockey League caliber players were continuing the upward movement of those players: forward Shawn Weller and defenseman Mark Miter were being reassigned to Abbotsford of the American Hockey League.
While both players have played well and...
The defensively depleted Bakersfield Condors got some good news during the All-Star break: All-Star defensemen Eric Regan, who had been playing with San Antonio in the American Hockey League, is being reassigned to them by the Anaheim Ducks.
But, that was muted when the Springfield Falcons swooped in and plucked out Sasha Pokulok, another All-Star defenseman.
Pokulok, who leads the Condors in defensemen scoring with 10 goals and 15 assists (fourth best in the ECHL) was signed to a...
The Anaheim Ducks have reassigned rookie winger Matt McCue ( 6-foot-5, 220 pounds)from the Mantioba Moose of the American Hockey League to the Condors.
McCue, who played defense in juniors, has been switched to forward by the Ducks. He played in 10 games for the Moose, notching one goal and 24 minutes in penalties, before suffering a concussion in mid-November.
“He’s fine,” said Anaheim vice president of hockey operations David McNab, adding that McCue has skated with...
Defenseman Eric Regan had a pretty good reason for not being in the lineup for San Antonio in two games last week — he was battling a bout of food poisoning, according to David McNab, senior vice president of hockey operation for Anaheim.
Regan was reassigned from the Condors to San Antonio of the American Hockey League and would have been in the lineup had he been able, said McNab, noting he was sent to San Antonio to play.
Certainly, getting his minor-league players into the...
I'm sure there was some pressing need for the Anaheim Ducks to ship defenseman Eric Regan off to San Antonio earlier this week. My guess is the Rampage needed another fan in the stands.
That's where Regan on New Year's eve and where he was sitting again on Saturday night as he was not in San Antonio's lineup for either game.
Meanwhile, the Condors took took the ice Satuday night short on D.
Makes perfect sense to me.
The Condors enjoyed a prosperous 2009, thanks largely to an bevy of talented players assigned to them by the Anaheim Ducks, who do not have their own AHL affiliate.
But those who giveth, also taketh and the Ducks have been doing a lot of taking since mid-November.
The Condors have lost forwards Dan Sexton (first to the AHL and now in the NHL where he was been just short of amazing) and MacGregor Sharp (first to the NHL for eight games and now in the AHL) as well as nine-year NHL vet Kyle...
