Aces next challenge for Condors
For those who missed last Saturday night’s game against the Fresno Falcons, so sorry.
It was one for the ages. A shot that traveled off Kevin Truelson’s stick from his own face-off circle, short-hopped the Fresno goaltender and skipped in miliseconds before the buzzer sounded ending the second period; a line brawl in the third period and Brett Lutes’ remarkable game-winning goal in overtime. Wow!. That was a lot to digest for just over 63 minutes of hockey. The Condors are two games better off (2-0) than they were at this time last year but coach Marty Raymond said there remains a lot of work to be done and a lot of games (70) left to play. In other words, enjoy the wins, put them behind and look to the future. And looming in the immediate future is the Alaska Aces (7 p.m. Wednesday at Rabobank Arena). The Aces started their season Tuesday night in Fresno. The Fresno game featured a punishing brand of physical hockey and there’s no reason to think it will be any different against the Aces, who swept the Condors 4 games to 0 in the second round of the playoffs last season. For added intrigue, the game against the Aces has a subplot: Steven Later, who played for the Aces last season and was dropped from their playoff roster, now plays for the Condors. And Eric Neilson, who played for the Condors two seasons ago, now plays for the Aces. 3 comments from 2 users
