Hockey-Thon raises $56,000

A tap of the stick to all involved with the Fourth Annual Hockey-Thon, a 41-hour marathon that raised $56,700 for Links for Life, breast cancer resource center in Bakersfield.
More than 130 players participated in last weekend’s event, the highlight being a celebrity game pitting former Condors against former Fresno Falcons.
The event was organized by former Bakersfield Fog and Condor Kevin Barrett.
“The hockey community has embraced this event, and I am proud of how it has grown each year,” Barrett said. “I am proud of all the players who stay up all night and play for the cause as well as the Alumni players who are always willing to help. I hope our efforts have raised awareness for breast cancer as well as provide funds for Links for Life.”
Hockey-Thon players raised a minimum of $200 dollars each, contributing more than half of the $56,000 total. Tigger McAllister brought in the highest amount, $3,440.

Congrats to Kevin Barrett and Links to Life for their hard work and dedication to this cause, even though the Condors organization (aka Matt Reilly) tried like hell to take credit for this event.  Hopefully in the future, the Condors organization (not the team) will put forth the same effort on the ice, as off.
